So I used Windows Easy Transfer (no cable) using a network connection from one computer to the other (vista to 7) so you don.t need the cable. However, the cable will work when I started the vista computer in the safe mode.But by this time I transferred most of the files through the network. Insignia people did help and offered suggestions to eliminate the problem.
