This was the only option available at my local store so I took it. Got a bunch of extra accessories that I don't need but the one that I do need is right-angled and will last longer than my previous one.

It did power the computer with no problem but it would not allow the battery to charge. Had to actually go out and purchase a specific Dell power supply to be allowed to charge the battery.

I'm really sorry for the inconvenience you experienced. This situation could be due to the voltage your laptop needs.If you bought this charger but your laptop requires 90W charge, a 65W charger like this one will power the unit, but not charge it's battery. I'm happy to read that Dell was able to solve this for you, they are the only ones who know exactly what charger your specific laptop requires.
