good at the price

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of these, it died about 2 weeks later, Best Buy did replace it with another it lasted until now and now it's dying and not keeping things cold anymore. I would like to exchange this for another brand fridge and would be happy to pay the difference.

Works fine but super loud

However, it was the loudest fridge I've ever heard, and I ended up having to return it because I couldn't stand the sound. Perhaps it was a defective model, I'm not sure. Very disappointing. Thankfully customer service handled the return well.

Freezer died after 6 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.For everyone who reviewed this fridge after 3 months and gave it 5 stars, I totally agree, but I would suggest waiting till you've owned it at least a year (which is when the warranty ends) before reviewing it. I went out to the garage yesterday to get something out of the freezer only to find that everything in the freezer had thawed completely. I don't know how long the meats were sitting out there in this condition, so I had to toss everything. I called insignia. Claiming the warranty was a fairly straightforward process, but it required taking the confirmation code I was given to a Best Buy store (even though I had placed my original order online) and requesting the refund/exchange on site. I was offered a replacement, but I opted to upgrade to a Whirlpool. One thing to note about this fridge apart from it completely dying is that the pullout freezer basket is a bit of a hassle, especially if you store heavy meats in it. It doesn't glide out smoothly like a real drawer. You pretty much have to lift the whole thing out every time you want to access items inside. Then, when you put it back, you need to make sure that you push it back in completely, or else the door won't close properly. Seems obvious, but if you're not paying close attention, you could potentially leave the door open ever so slightly and not notice until it's too late and things have begun thawing.

Broke down after year 1

Will not last!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Will not last! Built cheap and can't be repaired. My compressor died right after the extended warranty ended just after 3 years. The manufacture states the compressor is warrantied for 5 years but not the labor. All repair companies I called stated they do not work on sealed units so can't be repaired. Some stated even if they would/could work on the unit it would cost more then getting a new one in labor cost. I say stay away from Insignia, Magic Chef, Avanti, Danby since they are all the same product with a different label!

Loud noise after 2 years

It worked great until it started making a loud noise around 18 months. It was so loud that it kept me up several times. The sound came and go, so I kept it unfixed until now. This time, the noise was sooo loud and high pitched that I had to unplug. It is unacceptable that the fridge only lasts 2 years. I am never buying any insignia products ever again. Waste of time and money.
