Lots of gadgets take several AA batteries, hear you get lots of them for a low price. They seem to work well in my gadgets.

I use a number of different battery types (and price points) for different purposes. These are my "in a pinch" batteries that I have on hand if I'm out of my better batteries. I have never had them in a device long enough to know how long it takes for them to leak acid. I switched to Insignia from Rayovac's because of acid leaks from the Rayovacs. Insignia gets 5 stars for price (only when bought on sale) and for usefulness for intended purpose.
