The cable is kept in a specific location in the house that everyone with an Apple iPhone or iPad Knows. When they cannot find their Apple supplied Lightning charge cable they can use this extra Lightning cable. When the Apple phone or tablet is charged the cable is put back where it belongs for someone else to use.
