I put 4 new C-batteries on my flashlight and checked to see if it works. I lit up shortly then dimmed and shut off withing 5 seconds. My first thought was the flashlight was bad because I just put in new batteries. I had to test it out by getting another set of C-batteries and they worked. Yes, it was another set of insignia batteries.
