It doesn't matter if you have vertical or horizontal air vent slats because the base is capable or rotating to accommodate either style. I really like the fact that it has "foot" attachment that helps hold the phone in place, even if the side holders are not pressed in very hard.

I've been having difficulties with my phone staying in the holder and the holder staying in the vent (because of the weight of my phone). This holder stays put and keeps my phone secure. I also use one to hold my vape (in a different vent). It has a quick release and squeezes closed. Great product overall!
