This is a great, inexpensive flash unit. It has the pin output for Sony as well as the standard hot shoe points. This means the camera can communicate to the flash what focal length and power output is needed. That seems to work out just fine as the shots taken with this unit come out well lit, but not overexposed. It's definitely better than the built in flash. The only flaw I found was in setting it up for a diffuse light. It's not completely clear how to set it in manual mode so you can easily bounce it or send it through a diffuser. The trick is to set it to a relatively close distance so the bulb will move back in the unit. You can check the settings are correct by looking at the front of the unit at the flash bulb area.

These items helped me step up my game for a photoshoot and for a few events after the shoot. I do wish there were more tutorials I could learn from, but all-in-all everything was pretty easy to use and very helpful.

Haven't had a whole lot of time to go into depth with this flash yet, but it works well on Auto settings. At least better compatibility with the Sony than Canon friendly strobes.

This flash works great, when it works. I've noticed that about 10% of the time the flash doesn't fire, which is pretty annoying. Still good for the price.

Perfect for your Sony A6000

This is a perfect flash for the Sony A6000. The flash output is powerful, more powerful than I expected. The colors are accurate. It couples with Sony's TTL. It's very compact.
It's very easy to dial down the power. The flash head rotates. (I was bounce flashing off a ceiling at reduced power and changing power as the shoot required.)
I got good life from the batteries. Recycle time was good for my purposes, count to 5. (If you are a "run and gun" guy used to a big 4-battery Canon flash, like I was, you may find this 2 battery unit slower. This one works fine for me.)
I bought this as an inexpensive back-up if I needed it. And I did. Had a sunny day studio shoot in a natural light space. But it clouded over, the light softened and went wintery blue. With this flash onboard, my colors popped nicely. This saved my shoot.
I recommend this flash unit highly.

This is a good product for the price. The batteries don't last too long and it is limited with what you can do but it does get the job done in dark areas!

Used on a α6000 with the sigma 30mm F/1.4 in both indoor with low light, and outdoor as supplemental light. I expected to have to go through several sets of batteries but still on the original set I used for a indoor wedding, where I did several hundred photos. Within 2 days I did another shoot where we had evening light that progressed to the sun under the horizon and I used this flash most of the time with the reflector out to get some light to brighten faces and help with image quality as light faded.
Worked perfectly fine the whole time, in TTL mode. Battery life at least with 2 energizer lithium AA. For the price id recommend for any of the APSC sony cameras.

Was afraid that I'd have to settle on the more expensive sony flash units but this fits my HX-400v perfectly. Gotten it synchronized as a slave flash as well. Overall a good buy!

The flash works well. I have not discovered any drawback compared to the Sony brand. It works as described and does all I need it to do.
As with flashes, the batteries wear down flash. Consider rechargeable batteries.

While potentially not as full featured or as great of build quality as some other brands, at the price I payed this is an absolutely fantastic flash to learn with and I plan on making it a fill flash once I get a better one.

I’ll never fully understand why camera brand flashes are so expensive. This Insignia flash is well made, works well, and has some nice features (like built in bounce card). All for a super price.

For years i was searching for a good flash for my Sony A6000, getting Flash for Sony was not easy as like Canon or Nikon camera, also pricing for Flash is way higher for Sony Mirror less camera.
But i badly needed a Flash for Low light photography
This TTL Flash was the good one that i found out of all the options. Was skeptical before purchase, but it worked well even on the challenging environments.

I was looking for a alternative to buying a Sony flash. Came across these one day at BestBuy. Found them on sell for $75.00 each (bought two) even at regular price @ $99.00 each is a steal. They work GREAT on of off my Sony A6000's. What really sold me was, they have HSS (high speed sync) and it WORKS. Amazing! You usually have to spend waaaaaay more to get that feature. And has other features like Illuminated LCD display, etc. Plus, it comes with the little off camera stand and a carrying case. P.S. I see it's on sale on for $79.99.
