Yet once I bought it and got to work there was a tag on the cable itself saying so. Of course its in the wrong direction. Has anyone ever seen a display port on a laptop? Yeah me neither... I was trying to hook my work laptop up to a display port monitor. Sonsteer clear as most laptops have an HDMI port and this wont work being "directional".

I only knew that I had a monitor that didn't have an HDMI connection, and a laptop that only had HDMI. I saw this adapter and thought it was exactly what I needed! But this adapter is not a two-way street. (Why would they even make adapters that don't go both ways nowadays?!) So my monitor was not getting any signal, and after a bit of trial and error, and finally some reading, found that I needed a HDMI-to-DisplayPort adapter, which Best Buy seems to not have at all.
