    Not worth it

Bought this for $89 so I had realistic expectations. I got this for my 9 year old so i didn't need anything with all the bells and whistles. I do have to agree with others and say the screen is pretty bad. Its is peppy and scored in the 6,000 range using Antutu. Personally I think its also way too big. As a comparison I just bought a $69 Nobis quad core for $69. The screen is better, its faster and scored 12,000 on Antutu. It also has both a front and rear cameras, 1gb ram, 8gb memory. I really wanted to like this but its going back.

I bought this tablet on the sale price of $99 and am glad I decided to buy it. works really great and is fast. I cant complain about it, its a good tablet for the price. I had seen the reviews and someone said their complaint was lack of accessories, but I went on ebay and there is many accessories there for it. Overall great tablet and my kids loved it

    Amazing Tablet

I bought this tablet for my retired mother so she has something to get on Facebook with, to play some games, and use as an e-reader to replace her Kindle. I personally have an Asus Tablet and have spent months researching tablets. My sister and I didn't want to spend a lot and wanted something that would be easy to use and see. I prefer Android devices (less proprietary than iOS/Apple#. We went by specs when looking for a cheaper tablet. Name brand Processor, Ram, Screen Resolution, Micro SD Card, and Bluetooth. I am absolutely floored by how amazing this tablet is. It runs smooth, conencts to WiFi easily and holds the signal extremely well #an issue with most cheap tablets are the WiFi connection is poor), and the screen looks beautiful. Again I have the new Asus Memo 10.1 and my girlfriend has the New Samsung Galaxy Tab, and this tablet can keep up with both. The screen size is perfect, not too big, but not a 7" 16:9 screen either. What helps it is that it is a 4:3 format, so 8" is bigger than you think. Think tube TV versus LCD TV. Screens are measured diagnoally, and so 4:3 8" is a larger screen than 16:9 8". Overall I would not hesitate to buy this tabelt again, and in fact we just bought one for my father.

A decent tablet let down by a terrible screen

I've had really good experiences with Insignia products and hoped for the best here. The performance is fine, build quality is solid, really this is let down by too quiet speakers and a terrible screen. The screen is so grainy and off color I thought it was defective, so I returned it and got another one with a terrible screen. Unfortunately this one is getting returned.

I wouldn't pay 199.00 for it. I think it is worth at least 150.00 everyday value. The screen resolution/sound is just okay. It feels nice and sturdy unlike some of the cheaper ones I've used. Good battery life. Good price for 79$!!

Good 8" Tablet Let Down by Screen

Many other reviews have said the same thing. For $80 its an OK tablet, let down by a below average screen. The rest of it is above average. For $200 its a bad deal but at $80 it was good enough for me to buy and keep it. I would not buy another one, but would wait for the next generation with a better screen.

The tablet is a great bargain for $79, but the sounds quality is not good. This tablet can be used just like any other Android device.

This is a great entry level Android tablet. I bought two for my kids. It is very easy and fast to set up, apps and games work very well on it. Unbeatable for the price, great value

Bought this for our daughter. She is very happy with it. Said she loves it. We were impressed by the nice display and ease of use. Drawbacks- lack of accessories for it. Found a review that said EBAY has accessories so we ended up buying accessories from there, Also, had to get a micro SD card so we could download games for her to play her games because the Android OS takes up about half the 8 GB the device comes with, so did not leave much space for her apps. Once we got the SD card, all is well. Would buy again, but would definitely get the accessories on EBAY.

For the money it works fine, the poor reviews cause of storage are sort of silly. The picture is good, the volume is barely adequate. I got it for $80 and my only other tablets are iPads and honestly this is not as nice but at the fraction of the cost it is great. For a cheap tablet I trust Best Buy to back up their product more than some brand I never heard of.

Cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Let me start out by saying don't ever pay more than $80 for this tablet. It absolutely is not worth the listed retail price. It's only worth it if you can get it for a low price, and even then it's debatable. The first thing that struck me when I took the tablet out of the box was how much it weighed. It's extremely heavy for its size, weighing in at half a pound more than equivalently sized tablets. It feels solidly built, but it's just too heavy. The second thing is the screen is absolutely abysmal. The contrast ratio is terrible. Everything looks really washed out. Even turning the brightness down all the way does not help. The screen looks a little better if you view it from like a 30 degree angle, instead of straight on, but how practical is that? The low resolution might contribute to the issue, too, but either way it's horrible to look at this device. I was willing to put up with a less than spectacular screen, but this was simply worse than I could tolerate. I previously owned a Viewsonic G-tablet until it accidentally got wet and broke. The G-tablet was not an especially great tablet at all, but the screen was head and shoulders better than the one in this tablet. Bottom Line: Don't even think about this if it's not on sale. And, even if it is, only buy this if it's for a small child who is likely to break it anyway, or someone who really can't tell the difference, like a blind person who curls 80 lbs dumbbells. Otherwise spend another hundred bucks on a tablet that will weigh half as much and which will actually have a screen that is easily legible.

I was looking for an inexpensive tablet for web and email. I got it and more. This tablet performs better that expected in the video and gaming departments as well. The screen resolution may not be the highest quality but it works fine for me. Battery performance issues what is advertised on the box. I feel like I got a lot more that I paid for.

A surprise since Insignia is not a household name...I've Purchased Insignia products before and very happy with them , this is no exception...Very good screen , latest Android operating system , feels well made , duel core , micro s/d slot up to 32gb ......Great value but a good tablet.Speed appears to be above average.Don't forget Google Play with over 700,000 apps , many free.

I got this tablet when it was on sale for $80. My biggest issue is the screen resolution and the volume. 1024* 600 resolution seems washed out on this tablet and the colors look dull. The back light is very Weak and it makes pictures look dull even with the brightness set at 100%. There are many tablets that you can get with a higher rresolution and louder speakers at a lower price. I will say that the processor is decent because there is not much lag while using this device.

I have the Flex 10, when it came time to buy tablets for my toddlers it was the same cost to purchase a tablet designed for children that would only last them a year or so as it was to buy this. So I bought 3 of these. I installed parental controls 30+ games designed for little kids. The functionality of the device is fantastic, it works great. But there is 1 HUGE problem. Because this is the generic best buy brand, there are NO accessories. I bought 3 of these for children ages 3, 3 & 2, this tablet is heavy which causes it to fall face first, there is no way for me to protect it. Insignia needs to realize that they need to provide people with options on how to protect their investments. I am strongly considering taking these back just so I can get a device that I can actually protect.

I initially decided to get this device as a temporary tablet to tide me over until the new nexus 10 (or similar) got released. I wanted a device that would do everything my phone does, but with an emphasis on reading and remote programming via SSH. Hardware: The hardware feels sturdy, and could probably survive a small drop. The 1.2 pounds is really quite heavy for something of this size and shape though. Holding it one handed while reading a document did tire my arm more than I would expect with a device of its size. Also: when holding the device so the camera is at the top: the sleep and volume buttons rest behind the device at the back, so holding it with one's right hand can cause the user to accidentally hit these buttons and put the device to sleep. Software: The device runs slowly. There is noticeable lag on some scrolling animations, and loading things takes considerably longer than they should on today's hardware. Several apps I tried to install, including the popular Instagram app, had version incompatibilities and wouldn't install from the play store. Also, a few apps wouldn't work properly: Rdio, for example, wouldn't properly download the music I was trying to stream. Overall, I'd say the device is usable for people who only need something for email and really light web browsing. If you need to branch into more intensive things though, or plan on holding the device in your hands, I'd say that it's worth sticking with a computer or phone as opposed to buying a tablet like this. While I didn't test game performance, I don't think this would be a good candidate for console of the year either.

After getting it home I spent time watching video/netflix, playing a game GT Racing 2, surfing the web, changing settings and setting up email. It really works well and has nice build quality. Sound is a little low, but I also have one if the higher end iPads and the sound on that is only a little better. If you not got a tablet, just buy this one uou will not be disappointed.
