Great Tablet Gift for the money

Purchased this tablet for a 13 yo as a gift, nice snappy tablet, although screen could be brighter, but better than any other budget tablet on the market, 8" size is perfect fort web browsing and daily use. Screen resolution is okay. 1.2 GHz dual core CPU, 1GB ram, and 8GB storage are great features for a tablet that costs 79.99.

Not so sure about this tablet

So I bought this for my wife on Black Friday. She is a facebook and Pinterest person, so I figured for eighty dollars, it would do the trick. Well upon getting it, it set up very nicely, but....................................... 1. As for sound, it sucks. At max level, you can barely hear it. If we are watching tv while she is on it, she can't hear anything. The room has to be completely silent to hear anything, even at max level. 2. In our family room, my laptop gets wifi fine. Our phones get wifi fine. My daughter's ipad gets wifi fine. Not this. This loses its signal in our family room all the time. Can't use it in there at all. 3. Much slower than laptop, smartphone and ipad. When my wife is scrolling thru facebook, the pictures on her newsfeed don't come up and she has to wait and wait and wait. In conclusion, if you were buying this for a child/young teen, you probably would do ok for the eighty dollars. For any adult or older teen, I would not waste my money. I am taking this back and looking to pay more money for a better tablet.

Good for function, bad for quality

The most noticable thing about this tablet is the screen resolution. Flat out, it's no where near my cell phone or any laptop I've owned. It has the quality of an old tube TV. Not a deal breaker for me. I grew up with tube TVs and they were fine. One annoying part is the volume control and the power button is on the back, so it's difficult to get to inside my case. Not the best product in the world, but it does the job for me. I paid $80 for it, but I would never pay $200 for it.

    GREAT TABLET FOR TEENS

I totally disagree with the bad reviews of this product. The screen clarity is better than my iPad! Great size, and I got it for $79.99 on black Friday. For this level of quality, this is a HUGE value. A lot of bang for your buck. Gave it to my daughter for Christmas (and she is a computer nerd BIG TIME, and she LOVES it! I will be buying the 10 inch instead of a new iPad. Now if I could just figure out how to get my daughter off of it! I also teach Computer Science to mikddle schoolers, and wish we didn't waste money on iPads, we could've bought 5 times the amount of these!

Purchased this tablet for my nephew for Christmas. Excellent price for screen size. Memory is minimal but if you download Drop a box or other cloud app you can add storage for free. He seems to like using it. Screen resolution is good. We recommend this product if you don't store a lot of pics and downloads.

I overlooked it back on Black Friday at $80. Was glad to see it at $99 as a one day special and picked up the 16gb micro sd at $13.

    Good for a child but . . .

In general this is a great for an 8 yr old, but the memory was partitioned into 2 sections with one of them labeled as SD card although the unit can take a separate SD. card. The first partition only can hold about 1 gb of data so we often run out of space when trying to install apps, games, etc... This was raised on the insignia web site message board and it was acknowledged that this was a known issue with this model and that there will be a software update eventually. Had I known this sooner i would have returned the unit.

Got this tablet at Xmas time as a gift for my 5 year old. Far more reasonably priced than the kid specific tablets and you can still find all sorts of fun games to download.

    Poor Tablet

Its heavy and clunky, very poor sound quality, even at its highest level, it sounds really low. The screen resolution is poor from what it states "8" capacitive touch-panel display with 1024 x 768 resolution" saying it gives crisp detailed images. It has very poor and dull color quality. NO REAR CAMERA!! Just the front camera, completely dissatisfied with this product.

    A Few Questions

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Insignia's support line is pretty much worthless. I can't complain about the price of this unit $79.00 for basic use, but the manual clearly states that the battery is non replacable. Does that mean by me or does it have to be sent in to be serviced which would most likely cost more than what I paid for this tablet. How much life expectancy can I expect out of this battery and is it common for tablets to have batteries that are not replacable?

Was warned by the sales rep the screen was grainy. He recommended the Samsung lite even though is has a lower screen resolution. Sometime you get what you pay for. Spend a little more and get an HD tablet. Would be great for kids or beginners

    Not for Me!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought this on Black Friday for $80. When I read what it had and the specs it sounded like a great deal compared to other no name tablets. At least this one is made for Best Buy. When I got it today and opened it I was ok with the look and the build quality, there is a slight edge at the back of the bezel that was a little sharp but other than that good. The deal breaker for me was when I went to download iheartradio to stream music this app and several others I tried to download were not supported by this device. This was one of my main uses for this tablet to save battery on my phone. Needless to say I took it back to the store and upgraded to the Galaxy Tab.

    Get A Better One

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got this so my girl could play "Candy Crush" on a larger screen than her cell phone. For $80, it works and she is happy. For much else at the retail price point of $199.99, don't bother. Tablet would not update, wifi antenna is weak, touch screen takes several taps at times to function. Screen clarity is okay but many don't think so. Even set to large fonts, type is very small. If you just check your email, sit on Facebook, play a few Android apps and get it on sale like $79.99 then perhaps you will keep it but otherwise upgrade to a better one.
