Pleasantly surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon receiving and unpacking this device, I mistakenly assumed it would not live up to my expectations due to its small size. This being my first device capable of receiving HD radio, I was more than pleased with its performance. The station I was trying to tune to is located about 35 miles from me, but by placing this radio in a window sill, it was able to receive a signal in full HD. And, like the man said, it sounds as good as a CD. Extremely low background noise, coupled with wide dynamic range are a great combo. Now, this unit is small, so the stereo speakers lack in bass output, but the highs are quite clear; the overall sound is way above the average sound from any other portable radio I've owned. So I feel it is well worth the price. The small size allows easy placement of the unit for good signal reception. The included antenna is quite long, and does the job. I am able to get 3 of 5 bars signal strength which is enough for clear HD reception. Hats off to Insignia for producing this mighty marvel.
