My daughter wanted a radio for her room and I wanted it to be one without Bluetooth because she is not allowed to keep her phone in her room. There were few options but I found this one and she loves it! She can listen to whatever station she wants and she doesn't bug me about needing her phone in there :)

Surprisingly great radio considering the price. HD radio is state of the art audio quality...much better than I had anticipated. With two different antennae options you're likely to pull in channels from a decent distance.

This was my first venture into HD radio, so I didn't want to invest too much money before I knew if it would work where I live. I am very happy I took the suggestion of a friend and bought this. The sound is average out of the small speakers. However, patched into a component system, it really brings out the best of what HD radio is. With just the mast, I was able to pick up nearly a dozen HD signals in my area, and a couple more when the pigtail antenna (included) was patched in. It's easy to use and does much of the work for you in seeking out HD stations. Plus the Aux input allows an I-Pod or other such device to be played through it. I am very happy with this radio and am in no hurry to invest in a more expensive receiver just yet,

My girlfriend wanted to listen to local NPR and this has not only met her goals, but added 2 extra NPR stations for her to listen to. It was affordable, great design in terms of space and function.

I like HD radio for the good reception. I wish it would catch on more. It is hard to find small radios that include HD. This radio does it well. The process of setting a memory station is my only complaint. Great sound for the size.

Love living in a major metropolitan area. For once it pays off. Great smooth jazz station, and multiple new rock stations. Has an additional antenna and MP3 player port in back. Only downside is no AM radio, although some of the HD2 and HD3 stations are from an AM station (I think only one or two).
This radio has great sound for such a small footprint. So glad I bought it since the jazz station changed formats a couple of years ago. Now I get great music again!

More Choices But Tinny Sound

This Insignia tabletop was my introduction to Hybrid Digital radio. The sub-channels that some stations broadcast give you a greater variety of listening choices. Some of those choices are better than what's being broadcast on the main station. But any claims of HD radio having better audio fidelity can't be determined from this model because its small size gives the sound a tinny quality, like it's coming from a transistor radio. When you change stations or presets, there are several seconds of silence while the radio attempts to lock onto the HD signal. To truly get the benefit of HD, a hybrid digital tuner connected to a stereo system with bigger speakers might be the better way to go. But this Insignia is good to have during a power failure or to use in a small space.

Our NPBN station recently revised its network and added weak local fm-analog transmitters which we were only able to receive poorly using our older fm analog devices. Consequently, we wanted to be able to get their HD (digital) broadcasts. They recommended this device as an inexpensive option. Reading the reviews, we expected that the sound quality would be poor. However, we found the tuner to be excellent and, since the device has a headphone out jack, it can be connected to external speakers (like decent computer speakers) or a receiver's input. As a tuner this device is very good.

This radio has high sensitivity and pulls in the various sub-stations with great clarity. The radio, though small, puts out a lot of sound. I actually bought 2, one is used standalone and the other ported to a Bose stereo system. I think it's the best value in small HD radios

This is a nice table top radio with some HD features. It doesn't have much Volume. If you want to hear you favorite HD station and you are not in your car or it's not on the Internet, this will work.

Not much available for HD radio. So I bought this. But very soon it develop the switch problem which controls the station settings. It's jump to any station. So radio becomes useless. If you get to the right station by chance than it work good.

Found this great gem of a radio with help from the Sales Associate. My previous radio was an old knob tuner that was not holding onto the stations. This HD radio is awesome! Having a HD digital tuner, sleek design and simple operations makes it better than perfect.

There are very tiny HD radios, and there are high-end HD tuners for stereo systems. This is perhaps the best in-between radio, and you can get it for only about $40 by mail. While it is true that HD is available on AM and FM, few AM-HD stations survive, so this FM-HD radio is just what you need to find and enjoy local HD stations (not satellite). Since HD is digital, it offers better fidelity than standard FM stations (which you also get with this radio). You can hear the difference, even with the small built-in speakers.
