You can still plug it into the usb end and use it, but you won’t be able to slide the case around it.

And dispite the large aluminum body, theres no way to use it as a passive heat sink. Mounting the drive in the case is quite fiddly. But it does do it job.

Awesome adapter for these drives

I had to salvage some files from a 1TB drive and this saved me. Only issue I had was getting the drive past the retainer clip. The instructions aren’t very clear. The trick is to remove the clip first (vs turn it 90 degrees) and then insert the drive. Then put the clip back in. Other than that the adapter worked great

Great drive enclosure

The adapter works as expected, usb 3 speeds, it gets hot, so use the thermal tape provided. Good buy

Got hot to the touch during use, and getting the plastic screw to work wasn’t ideal, but the drive came out clean and worked like a charm, so I can’t say it didn’t work.

Now using this as an extra storage drive with the old 512GB card inserted. Easy to use, handles multiple card sizes easily.
