It thermally throttles severely when doing a full disk copy such as Linux dad command. I recommend finding a thunderbolt enclosure from a company that usually supports the Apple ecosystem - that one never noticeably throttled the same WD nvme and sustained a very high transfer rate (could not complete with this insignia enclosure).

All the files were saved. The tiny internal locking piece in the case is poorly designed, but this does not seem to matter after the external case is snapped shut. A thin piece of material acted as a thermal shield when aligned with the SSD in the case/enclosure.

After getting a replacement PC, I used this to put my old SSD drive in, and connect to the new computer. Boom! All my data, documents and pictures were intact on the drive.

The only downside is that the adhesive for the thermal pad could be easier to apply. I accidentally peeled the adhesive from the pad when I tried to remove the protective film.

Reads and writes around 1000 mb/s with a gen 3 ssd TeamGroup m.2 card. Not too sure about gen 5 cards. May have fried my Z5 card or my have been my grandson fiddling with settings. Z5 card ran hot gen 3 and 4 cards were fine.
