    I used this adapter to connect my wife's MacBook Air to a TV for a Powerpoint presentation. It converts the laptop display to a standard HDMI video only ouptup (no sound). It works fine for showing whatever is on your laptop display on any TV with an HDMI in port. As its very short, you need to buy a separate HDMI cable.
