No wifi no Problem

Works but HDMI portion overheats—be careful

However, recently it's been building up heat in the HDMI portion of the adapter... so hot you need temperature protected gloves to touch it. My guess is these things are made not to last (planned obsolescence?) The overheating seems to be an issue as it breaks the connection to the display randomly and for random durations lasting a second or two to several minutes. Unplugging it and letting it cool down works but ^I cannot imagine why a company would build a part with a known problem then pretend it doesn't exist.^ I use an HP external monitor with my MacBookPro (mid-2010) 13" laptop.

Because it's thunderbolt and hdmi (non locking connections) it is possible to wiggle out if a laptop or imac are moved on the desk. This is true of all thundebolt and hdmi connections tho.
