I bought this adapter for my Mac computer to plug into my Smart TV. I love that Insignia makes this. Apple charges way too much and this is the perfect option for someone who is on a budget and wants the same quality.

Do not purchase if you have a macbook. I have the Macbook Air and was hesitant about buying this because I know that usually non-apple products don't work with apple products but I didn't want to buy the apple product since it wasn't in stock the day I purchased this one. It will work for a short period of time but then will stop working entirely and waste the money that should have went to just buying the apple converter. I even asked a Best Buy associate if it would work the same as Apple and he said it would, however he was clearly wrong. As a college student I don't have a lot of money just to be wasted down the drain by crappy products, so if you want something to last you should just make the investment with apple products.

This adapter does work with a macbook air, and an external monitor. However, the first device that I got at Best Buy would not function properly. Took the device back to the store to check it with a monitor in store. Same issues. They gave me a different adapter which worked fine.

Just got back from best buy and i plug in my adapter to see if it works, quickly i noticed that about 1-4 times per minute the audio will cut out for about 2 seconds and then cut back in. Very disappointed and very upset considering this costs 25 dollars.

My first one didn't work, but Best Buy was very generous on their return policy and let me exchange it for a new one.

I love this product, we can hook the laptop up to the tv now and watch what ever we want off of there.

I have a brand new macbook air and one day I was in a pinch and bought this unit. The connector was a bit expensive but I needed it or I would have gotten a much cheaper one online. Well, thankfully I didn't end up using it, however, when I tested it out (on multiple displays with multiple cords) It DID NOT work. Very disappointed. At least now I can go buy a much cheaper one and return this one. Defective? Probably, but I wouldn't suggest buying it anyways since it is far more expensive than most.

This item was what I needed to put my power point into a television monitor.

Well made, not flimsy or cheap. Works well, & is a great value.

I think it was an ok buy. Not entirely convinced I was getting the best display connection. Looking into other options.

tried on my samsung tv's and it worked until I tried to use it on my LG tv and the sound would jump from playing on my tv to the computer. if you do have this problem with this cord i would recommend getting the Belkin cord. i returned this Insignia for the Belkin cord and now it works on my LG tv :-)

Tried with two different Macbook Air's purchased over a year a part. Laptop display goes flips off and on then stays black, no signal to TV, keyboard lights on. Big apple logo on top of case on with lid closed! Had to hold power button to reboot. Tried several cables, with and without HDMI switch connected to Mitsubishi TV. Tried Belkin adapter, it just worked. Laptop screen flickers off then comes right back on. Can select mirror or different displays. Tried with my mom's TV, it still worked. Tried the Insignia, locked up again. Pretty confident the Insignia adapter caused lock up. Sound also worked through TV as expected. Very happy with the FC2D024BT also sold at Best Buy.

This adapter worked initially for connecting to a projector in order to use a SMARTBoard. I then tried to connect to a TV, but it has not been able to work since. Exchanged it, thinking that the cord was faulty, but second adapter never worked at all! I plan on returning for a full refund!

I am so disappointed! I need to connect my iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2013) to a Samsung MU8000 series TV. This product worked for one day only. On day #2, my iMac screen goes black randomly and my Samsung TV states my iMac is not turned on.

My sister and I both have MacBook Airs so I bought two of these. Both tried to connect our Macs to our TV, and neither of them worked. It made both screens flash and downsized the picture on the Mac.

I purchased this to use with my Macbook Pro, I used an HDMI cable that I had verified to work. plugged into a flat panel TV that had a working port, trouble shooting for several hours, online with Apple care for almost an hour and couldn't make it work. I picked up a different adapter at the Post Exchange, plugged it in and had zero issues. I later asked a friend to try it with his Macbook and no luck. Judging by the reviews it would appear I may have just picked up a bad one, but buyer beware on this one.

Worked great for about a month. Then completely stopped working.
