Okay Adapter, Doesn't Last Long

My only problem is that the adapter is coming apart after only about 4 months of very light use. The plastic casing that keeps the actual wire from being exposed is coming off. I truly liked this wire, but super disappointed that I have to spend MORE money to get another one.

The store associate assured that it would work on any computer when I said I didn't have a Mac. I have a Dell XPS and this adapter doesn't work with it. Might work with others.
