It is wide enough that the pointer can go from one end of the screen to the other without having to "reroll" the mouse over and over. The thicker mouse pads tend to press the keys accidently without much clicking pressure because of the increased weight in the padding.

For less than $5 this mouse pad is holding up to the job and serves it's purpose. We have 2 in use, neither slide around or get dirty from use by the kids. Good deal.

It is your standard grade mouse pad. The mouse slides over it easily. The rubber back sticks to the desk and doesn't slide. I don't expect it to have an excessively long lifespan as the edges are slightly frayed to begin with and I'm sure my wrist rubbing on the edge will wear it down fast.
