It is flat and the bottom doesn’t let the rest of the mouse pad start to slide if you bump it with your hand. It is easy to pick up and move if you have to take it somewhere.

But my new desk with a glass top forced me too. I didn't want graphics or themes just a black durable pad! INSIGNIA never lets me down! Love the house brand!

I will note that it is slightly small; if you're looking to game, you'll probably want something with a little more coverage. Apart from that, it's more than adequate.
