Got extended warranty to handle that. Combined price is much less than "durable" units.

It works great for this purpose because it can be plugged into the USB port on the dvr and makes it easier to type in the camera names, etc..

Overall I would have given 5 stars for its short-cut-keys and durability but for the Annoying noise of the keys it losses a star.
