I use a portable CD player to listen to Books on CD that I borrow from the library. This CD player works well for that purpose. I am able to pause, advance to the next track, or reverse to the previous track. I'm able to forward only by full tracks, no fast forward or backwards to find a place in between. And unlike more expensive players, it does not remember its place on the CD once it is turned off.

Bought as a gift and one for myself also. Mine seemed to work well for a while but lately (and I know it's 2 years old now) it just doesn't do it - even after charging it and putting in new batteries.
i was happy with it for quite a while and because the price was right I guess it all remains..."You get what you pay for".

I am very pleased with the Insignia portable CD player I recently purchased. The sound quality is great, the earphones are very comfortable, and it was reasonably priced. Great value!

Bought to use for listening to books on CDs while driving to work.
Two draw backs. One is that if player is paused for an extended length of time, it eats the batteries. If you stop it, it does not remember or hold your place so you must remember what track you were on. Second is No Blue Tooth connect. Connects to car audio with inexpensive aux cable purchased separately.

NOT HALF-BAD

This seems like a nice unit. Simple and attractive, and so far plays everything I feed it (including burned CD's), with nary a "skip" (unlike the SONY unit it's replacing--which, although barely used, is wholly unreliable and prone to dropouts). The line out jack bypasses the volume control, and is useful for attaching to an external amp (as shown in my photo). The LCD readout is larger than many: about 1/2 inch tall, with stacked characters about 1/4 inch tall. The controls are simple, and logically arranged. The only problem I've found is that the AC power jack isn't fully compatible with my adapter--so that a slight twist of the cord, in the wrong direction, cuts the power. Despite that, all in all, not half-bad! I'm happy....... so far....

This product is a lot of fun. I carry it in a over the shoulder bag and play it during my daily walks. It skips when I get too bouncy, but not nearly as much as they used to when I had them years ago. It's worth buying.

I like this CD player. It's small so you can carry it around with you and so far it has not skipped and I use it every day. I play my cd's and listen while I am playing games on my computer.

Even as everything is going digital there are still some of us that have cd's we want to listen to. This is easy to use and at the price it can't be beat.

Works as expected. Portable, easy to use after fiddling around with it (to play a disc, just press the play button to the right of the display screen). The sound is not the best, but rather just alright, and that’s to be expected. Plays my CDs just fine when it’s late at night and I don’t want to wake the neighbors.

Easy to use and I didn’t even have to read the directions. You can even us a dc adapter instead of batteries. It didn’t come with an adapter but I already had one from a previous CD player. The only drawback was the eject button. You have to slide the button to eject, a push button would have been better.

This unit with the FM radio is the unit to buy. I had purchased the Insignia model first without the FM radio and had nothing but problems. Took it back twice and Best Buy stood behind the issue. Spend the few extra dollars and get the cd player with FM. I use it listen to audio books while I workout. No skips so far

I really like this like CD player. I learned about it from my dentist when he asked me if I would like to listen to music while he was working on me for two hours. He made me a crown, and then I had my first filling without using novacaine! I attribute that to listening to the CD. I asked him how much it cost and where I could get one, came home, went online to Best Buy and had it sent to my home. I'm 71 years old, by the way.
