||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even with hearing aides, I can not hear books on disk. It took me 5 minutes to find the volume control and it didn't do any thing when I did find it.

A great performing CD / FM tuner combo.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.During my student days I overindulged in purchasing compact discs and now more often than not I find playing the mp3 s that I ripped from those compact discs can really be a disappointment with the wrong set of earphones. Enter the Insignia portable CD / MP3 / FM tuner that I bought on a whim. While the headphones that come with it are adequate, I have found that using the line output feature always me to add it to my current home sound system with great results. Because it is battery powered and portable it is great for my basement workbench plugged into a spare pair of powered speakers with great results. When I fancy listening to one of my old favorite compact discs I no longer have to search my computer's media player to locate the mp3 that I might or might have not ripped earlier. I just pull the disc from its place and take it and the Insignia Portable CD / MP3 / FM tuner with me and get to where I want to be without worrying about misplacing my far more expensive mp3 player.

Great for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an inexpensive portable cd player. I needed several for my kids to study music with, but didn't want to spend a lot of money for something that might be broken by a child. This was a nice one for the money and has been dependable.

Expected More
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Use mainly for listening to Recorded Books on CD; very disappointed that you cannot stop machine and pick up from where you left off. An older Sony model could do that but that model no longer sold. The remote controller makes it easy to pause or stop while listening in bed without picking up player from night table and was my main reason for buying Insignia. It also has some controls on top of Player making it easier to view, but the controls on the side of the player are hard to read because lettering is black on black. Although the user guide states if the player is in stop (standby) mode for 60 seconds, your player turns off automatically to save battery power, my player did not when I paused it and the next day I noticed my brand new batteries were very low. The guide does not explain differences between play/pause/stop on the remote vs power on and off on the player and whether using the remote controller affects the automatic turn off function. I would have much preferred a pause feature to pick up where you left off when you turned off the CD to save batteries rather than a radio or CD-MP3 feature which is included. No information was given in the user guide on how to obtain the optional AC Adapter.

good product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a Sony Walkman D- EJ011 player for moderate use a few months ago. It is a good player but the controls and selection playing view port are very difficult to see and use. I wanted a player that would solve these issues. This Insignia player/FM unit met my user needs plus added a n FM radio. For the shopper who is searching for a user friendly and moderately priced player this is your best bet.

sound is very good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use the CD player to listen to audio books from the library. Listening to stories helps me tune out the dramas of the day and fall asleep. There aren't many CD players out there any more and I am glad Insignia is still available. It is one of the more reliable brands. I drop the players on the floor and they hold up better than other brands. I like the big wheel to turn on and navigate CD tracks. I can use that navigation by touch. The tiny standard buttons on the side are hard to use and see. The radio reception is great. The sound is just fine for books.

Highly pleased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm very pleased dwith the portability of the Insignia and with the easily used features. I particularily like having a radio built in so that I can listen to it on walks. I would have liked getting a protective cover with it, tho as my last cd player had.

Works for me
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this CD player. I use it to play CDs of Mozart at work in a cubicle farm. I have not used its FM radio or MP3 features yet. I like the included headphones and the variety of features. I don't like its battery life. A fresh pair of AA batteries seem to last approximately 16 hours at what seems to be a decent volume.
