We bought this because our main refrigerators ice machine was not producing enough ice for the family per day and has helped a lot.. We have used it everyday non-stop and hasn't failed us yet ( knock on wood ). Little tip: The few drops of ice are a little noisy since the catcher is empty so I wouldn't keep it next to a bedroom or where people sleep for constant use. Also when it starts the ice producing process the fan comes on to cool the condensor down and some minor heat blows out so it might warm up a small room a bit.

Ice is always available. If you don't use all the ice at once it stays in the ice maker for more than 24 hr. It was a great price as d works well.

I recently realized that there was mold on some spots. I cleaned it with a brush and water with dawn. I've been running it through repeated cycles. It now has a plastic taste to the cubes. It was fine initially but now it doesn't taste right. I've tried tap and bottled water. I'm going to try distilled. I'm just really disappointed that it seems like a disposable product if I can't clean it.

It is the tub part that holds the water under the silver freezing tubes. When it’s off, I can only partially reach the tub to clean it and cannot find any information on how to disassemble it to clean it better. So I would say great purchase for 6-8 months and then it seems like you have to buy an entirely new one.

Of course the one in our fridge broke (like they do) and we were spending about $30/week on ice at home. This little machine has been excellent! It runs all day and gets used, all day. I love that we can use our fresh Berkey water and have the most fresh, clean, soft ice. It produces ice quickly, stores enough for our family of 4 and held up to 3 more guests for it’s first few weeks here. She doesn’t have a name yet, but she will, we like her that much.

Our old fridge went out, and the basement fridge had no ice maker. We were having to buy a bag of ice at the store every other day since it was still hot out(last days of summer heat). We were trying to buy a new fridge for the kitchen but fridges we wanted were out of stock or wouldn't be delivered for another week and a half. While in the store, I looked up BestBuy online stock and found they had this ice maker in stock at the store. Best purchase. This sucker cracks out the ice. Works really well for us. Would recommend this product for a party, or if your freezer's ice maker goes out!

I used distilled water because our tap water has a lot of minerals. I'm so glad I bought this.
