As they are kept in backpacks with books and, sadly, there is always a possibility of theft, I did not want to spent a fortune on earbuds. These work really well and, as they do not have that hard section near the earpiece, they do not break easy when bent. My children said the hearing quality was better than some more expensive ones we tried.

Good throwaway earbuds

I used them mainly on the go, so it took a lot of abuse, tangled up in my pocket and bag. I used them for several hours a day, and they ended up lasting for 3 months before it went out in one ear. I'm sure they would have lasted longer if I'd treated them better, but I can't imagine them lasting longer than 6 months.
