Customers appreciate the Type-C Wall Charger for its compatibility with various devices, affordable price, and portability. It serves as a reliable replacement charger and supports fast charging. However, some users have concerns about the short cord length, unusual size, and weight of the charger, and a few have reported instances of the charger ceasing to function after a month of use.

Works as needed, but cable is a bit short

I have a Dell XPS 15 9550. To run at full power with no throttling, my laptop needs its 130W charger. The problem is, I have class and work to go to, constantly lugging around both my laptop AND its enormous power brick. I needed something a lot more portable and in a smaller form factor, but also something that would boggle my system down too much. For me, 90W is perfect. I cant do any heavy video editing or graphic-intensive work/games without getting a CPU bottle neck, but for daily work and class use, this does just fine. Before, I'd literally be running on empty by the end of my second 3hr class even with minimum brightness and powersaving mode on. Because this is only 90W, it doesnt charge my laptop, but gives it much slower battery drain. At the end of my 6hr class block, instead of getting to 15% or dying completely, I ended a day with 56% battery. And I didnt even have to turn my brightness down to zero. I'd say thats a big win. The portability of this thing is also nice and makes carrying everything around much easier. I have not tried using this any other USB-C laptops. But I will update this review if I ever do. The reason this is not 5 stars is the relatively short cable. Obviously Im gonna be tied to an outlet when using this thing, but at least a 6.5' foot cord wouldve been nice. 5 ft makes you REALLY tied down. I couldnt find a longer option with the same wattage, so I had to go with this. If this had a 7-8' foot cord, this would be the PERFECT purchase for anyone looking for a USB-C power brick. Instead of perfect, its just really really good.

Powers Dell XPS 4k 15" Laptop; short cord

    Posted .

Although a warning screen is displayed at startup that this charger does not supply enough power for the laptop, it works fine and charges (slowly) while using. No issues, even when processing images or video. My only complaint is that the cord is too short and cannot be replaced. I would much rather have a removable USB C cord (or no cord) with the product and use my own. Also, when the cord fails, the product will be garbage.

The main feature of this is price. its cheaper than all the higher power macbook adapters while being more powerful than any. i have only one modification for it. Either make the cable separate so i can plug in any usb c cable or, even better, add on a double female adapter to the package so i can plug in a usb c cable as an extension to the 5' cable.

Probably the worst charger ever made

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It doesn't charge devices properly. Its only purpose in life and it fails miserably. Plug it in, wiggle it around a bit, it might or MIGHT NOT connect. Sometimes I have to put a paperweight on top of the wire for it to make the connection to the laptop. Lest you think this is my laptop's issue, I assure you, it is NOT. It is the poorly designed Insignia charger that causes all of these issues. How do I know this? I plug it into other USB C compatible devices and the same thing. Actually if I plug it into one device and it, by some miracle, works after 10 minutes of fiddling with it, it will then work on the laptop (or visa versa). it's really odd. If I move the computer or device that is charging even in the slightest degree, it disconnects the charger. Also, this charger has the worst possible design in the Universe and I give it this honor with most ardent intention. It's unnecessarily bulky and heavy, it doesn't plug into a wall properly 50% of the time (which might or might not explain why it isn't charging devices properly, although I think it's the design of the USB C connector that causes most of the issues). How do you let this product leave quality control? So you can't plug the charger into a vertical wall outlet because the stupid plug just falls right out of wall. This is because it doesn't include an additional wire (which ALL chargers should, free of charge) and you have to plug this bulky, square, thing with the fold down plug into a wall which just falls right out of the outlet. It's ridiculous! I maintain and restate: WORST DESIGN IN THE UNIVERSE. Don't bother buying. Spend the ridiculous $65 on the manufacturer's overpriced accessory rather than wasting you money on a piece of junk that doesn't work!

    Not compatible with all laptops

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought it with a Lenovo 720 13” laptop that was an open box deal. The specs say that it should work and the Best Buy rep said it would, but turns out it wouldn’t charge my laptop while it was powered on, only when I turned off the Lenovo would the adapter charge the laptop. Did some research on Google and it turns out this is a known issue with this charger. Some quirk in the USB-c protocol, so even though the charger may exceed the original charger wattage, the communication across the USB-c connection causes incorrect voltage selection. The only current fix is to use an OEM charger as there is no way (that I could find) to manually adjust the voltage come from the charger. This problem was reported as having manifested with other laptops too, not just the Lenovo model I have. Bottom line, it might work as a replacement. But then again, it might not.

    Great value for the money!

Buying this is a no-brainer as a second charger, specially with Apple charging over $80 for their chargers. It charges my 2017 Macbook Pro 13" very quickly. If the cable were longer and the head felt more secure when plugged it, it'd be a solid 5-star. It seems like the perfect charger to use with a PD hub since you wouldn't move it around much.

USB c end only worked at certain angles after 1day

Almost immediately became a loose connection with both my phone and laptop and only charged at certain very specific angles that only got smaller and smaller. Charger literally worked properly for exactly 1day and all it did was sit on a desk plugged into a power strip.

    Junk

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The USB connector does not properly maintain its connection to devices and so you will see on your laptop/phone/etc that sometimes your device is "charging" and sometimes it isn't...even when it looks like cord is plugged in. This charger is a piece of junk. And, they are very strict with the warranty - Insignia is owned by Best Buy and you will need to show the exact order in your Best Buy account in order for them to help you and they will not help you after 1 year exactly.

    Worst laptop charger

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So its the afternoon before a paper is due and my laptop is dying. I plug in my charger and it doesn't work. Cue the freak out, i go to my local best buy and they tell me that this $40 charger is the only option for me. I obviously don't have time to amazon prime something so I buy the stupid charger. I get home, plug it in and an error message pops up saying "HP recommends using an original power source". It still charges but it goes super slow and the charger is the length of an IPhone charger so you have to sit right up against an outlet to charge your laptop. Don't buy this charger you will hate yourself every time your laptop dies.

    Fragile, poor connection

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The cable connecting this power supply is unreliable, and breaking after moving it to SECOND location. Contacting Customer Service has done nothing. Turns out, it's inexpensive for a reason. After originally purchasing this to keep at a desk, upon moving the power supply to a new location, the laptop would only charge about half the time, after a few days of fighting and adjusting the connection, now it connections NONE of the time. It's an issue in the cable itself, but that cable is hardwired, so I'd have to replace the entire thing. I might as well replace it with one that works.

Within 3 months of buying this, the charger broke. I am very careful when it comes to chargers because I know they can be stripped and damaged easily, but this just broke without much use. I went to my local Best Buy and when I tried returning it they told me that stores now no longer carry the charger in the store. I would have to wait a couple days for it to arrive online. They customer service representative was very pleasant, but the process is terrible.

A few months (4-5 months) after I bought it, I noticed that there was a short in the cord and I would have to bend the cord a certain way to get it to charge my chromebook. Now 9 months later this charger is completely useless and I'm back to square one with being without a charger for my chromebook, which I desperately need for school and work. Thanks for nothing.

This would not power my MacBook pro 2017 15". I did purchase it as an open box so it could be that however the Macbook pro is supposed to have 61W and this is more at 90W. I had this product for 3 hours. I tried multiple working outlets and USB C ports on the laptop.
