I ran into Bestbuy and they had just want I needed. It was a universal charger, so it was compatible with pretty much every laptop imaginable.

Charger works in a pinch

The N24 tip didn't provide any charge to my machine, even though that was what the user manual said to use for this Dell. However the N56 tip (for HP) seems to provide power from the wall outlet, though it isn't actually charging the battery.

It provides multiple tips to match different brands. The tips and charger are well made and rugged. I needed it for my Lenovo IdeaPad and I found a perfect fit. Well made chargers are important and this charger will work with all 3 family members laptops if needed. As a teacher, I highly recommend this charger.
