I can charge it powered off or under lite load. This charger isn't the right voltage. Don't get this if you have an MSI.

Luckily was able to return it with no questions asked and money refunded. Found the right adapter on EBay for $30.00 less.

It worked as a power card, but would not charge the computer, which was what I needed. The computer didn't "read" the wattage at the level the box said the cord has. The return process at Best Buy was efficient.
