My Ethernet adapter didn’t fix the problem.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The adapter came quickly. The price was reasonable. I plugged it in and unfortunately it didn’t increase my Ethernet speed. I think I may need a new router. I can’t recommend this adapter due to it didn’t fix my problem.

usb c network adapter we all need...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this is one of the kinds of adapters that I just love. It is very reasonably priced. The quality could not be any better. To top it off it just works and works well with basically every type of device that has a USB C port and all types of software. I like that it fits in well if you are PC user or an Apple device user. The installation is basically effortless and the throughput was top of the line. For a device like my Ultra phone, I can use this and bluetooth devices to mimic an OTG experience. I highly recommend this for all PC or Apple users. You never know when you need to test your network connection or have an extra one available. This is by far the best per USB C NIC device available. I recommend this over getting a HUB or other bloated adapter that includes this functionality. When those devices don't work, you have to spend time and effort to troubleshoot the device. This will surely save you time and effort in the long run. This should be in your wheel house beyond question.

Garbage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Trash. Does not work on Mac or PC. Tried on two different Maca and two PCs. Nothing. Troubleshooting says check to see if drivers are up to date, yet the box says plug and play, no additional software needed. Liars. Just buy something else.

A well-made, fast Ethernet adapter.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression: The Insignia USB C to Ethernet Adapter has a quality feel to it. The case is solid, and the cable is a nice braid. There’s also a rubber stress relief on the USB C side. Setup: There is no setup, just plug it in and it immediately connects. Performance: I tested this adapter on my Asus TUF A16 Gaming laptop by copying files from my laptop to my QNAP TVS-1282tv NAS using an Ethernet cable plugged into a switch. I tested with a small file, a medium file, and a large file, and copied each file, first with the Ethernet cable plugged directly into the laptop, and then copying with the Ethernet cable plugged into the adapter. Using the small file, 1 1GB file, the time to copy was really quick on both the direct Ethernet connection and the adapter connection. It was too close to time. Then I moved up to a 4.36 GB file. I did each test twice to make sure the results are consistent. On the direct connection, the time to copy was 40.61 seconds. With the adapter, the time was 41.04 seconds. This is pretty much neck and neck. The final test was moving a 10 GB file. These results were very surprising. The direct connection took 4.36 minutes. Moving to the adapter, the copy took 1.34 minutes. I’m not surprised that the USB was faster, but I am surprised that it was so much faster. I have quite a few of these adapters, and the USB performance is OK at best. Some of my USB adapters are horribly slow. But this adapter was extremely fast on the large moves. Conclusion: The Insignia USB C to Ethernet Adapter is a high quality, well-made adapter for those who need a direct Ethernet connection on a laptop that only has USB C ports. The performance is great, and it is small enough to leave in your laptop bag. As an IT Engineer, I’m having to plug into networks often with my laptop. This adapter makes it easy to get great Ethernet performance on my USB C only laptop anywhere I need. I highly recommend this Insignia USB C to Ethernet adapter.

USB-C to 1GB Ethernets Adapter - Simply works!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Insignia - USB-C to Ethernet adapter comes in a compact package, however it does not compromise on quality or performance. Providing up to 1Gigabit high-speed downloads and data transfers, the Insignia USB-C to Ethernet adapter is just what the doctor ordered. With many devices and laptops nowadays omitting the onboard network adapters, this little gem steps in and provides the perfect amount of network connectivity with plug and play functionality. The build quality is exceptionally good and comes with a braided cable to enhance durability that is sure to last a long time. The network adapter is compatible with a wide variety of operating systems to include the following: Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS (supporting M1 & Intel chips), Chrome OS, iPad OS or Android OS. Pop the Insignia USB-C to Ethernet Network Adapter into your laptop bag or backpack and you are good to go for whenever you have the need to connect to high-speed internet via network cable. With more and more manufacturers getting rid of legacy ports, we as consumers are forced to use dongle adapters to get the same functionality we are used to having on devices. This little adapter bridges that gap nicely!

It's an ethernet adapter. It does that.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What's there really to say about a USB-C to Ethernet adapter aside from, it works? This one does indeed work. Setup was a breeze on my old 2016 model MacBook Pro. Plug it into an available USB-C port and plug your ethernet cable into the adapter and you're off to the races. Just to make sure there was no shady business, I disabled wifi while testing so I knew I was always using the wired connection. The Mac immediately detected the adapter and the new network and configured it. I didn't have to do anything else. I would assume the interaction is similar in Windows now a days since few devices really need drivers and extra steps for configuring. Speeds were what I would expect from a wired internet connection. I usually have this MacBook Pro on WiFi so I was happy to have a little bump in performance in that regard. Not much else to say here. If you have a laptop that has a faulty ethernet port or more likely no ethernet port at all and you'd like to use it on a more stable wired connection, this is a dead simple gadget you probably can't go wrong with.

Exactly What is Needed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upon opening the package, I was struck by the high quality of the materials used for this. Nice metallic look with braided cable ending into usb-c connector also topped with metallic finish. I hooked this up to a Dell XPS-15 and had mixed results on performance - not as good as the wireless which had been pulling 600 mbps download speed. Then Dell Support Assist kicked in and updated the driver and I tested speed again. Results were impressive - I have fiber internet of 940 mbps speed and this connection went to 861 mbps. Upload speeds are supposed to mirror download but rarely have I seen that. This unit went from around 120 mbps on wireless to 550 mpbs with the wired connection. I did use a cat 6 (new) cable to test this connection. I did do a second test with slightly better results - 877 download and 724 upload speeds. This is a very satisfactory product considering build and performance. I did test with youtube and the pages seemed to download faster as well as the videos. I opened five video windows and played in 1080p and this was also satisfactory.

Easy Ethernet Connectivity and Well-Built
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As many of the ports we used to rely on seem to be disappearing from our devices, especially laptops, the need for adapters keeps growing. As someone who is often helping others with their troubled technology, the reliability of a wired network connection is critical. Laptops are so thin now that few include an Ethernet adapter, as it's too thick for the laptop chassis. However, it's amazing how many times I run into issues with WiFi connections (device just won't connect, person cannot remember their WiFi password and I need to access the router, or a new installation where there is no driver for the WiFi card). Sometimes we just need a wired network connection. Enter yet another adapter, but this is a good one. My experience with Insignia products has always been excellent, as they are of much higher quality than many of the lesser-known brands, and equal or even better than the name-brands. No exception here, as this Ethernet adapter is very well built. The adapter itself is a little bulky, but that's the nature of this type of connection, so I wouldn't expect it to be much smaller, and I think that would actual degrade the quality. The housing is metal with a high-quality plastic interior. It does not feel like it's going to bend or warp under pressure. Inserting and removing Ethernet cables, even ones with a "boot" (that little rubber cover that protects the tiny plastic tab you press to remove it). This is appreciated because I honestly hate dealing with any cable with a boot, but they are necessary in some environments. The connector snaps in with a satisfying click, but is easily removed, meaning it's not so tight that the materials are scraping against each other. The other end is USB-C, with the same type of quality housing. It also plugs in and is removed with ease. I had no trouble with either my MacBook Pro or my Dell Inspiron notebook. The problem is that this is a USB-C connector, meaning it will work with newer devices, including almost all Apple computers and many newer PC's, but if you are dealing with an older computer, you will need an adapter for your adapter (haha!) in order to connect the USB-C connector to your USB-A port. The connection these two is a flexible braided cable which bends easily for flexibility, but feels sturdy. However, if you are throwing this into a bag, you probably want to use some caution as it may damage the interior wiring if the cable is bend to sharply. Transfer speeds were exactly what I expected and in line with my desktop computer that is always on a wired connection. Honestly, for web browsing, generally there is not a very noticeable difference between WiFi and Ethernet, because the network data is limited. Bandwidth intensive activities such as streaming video or transferring files is where the difference is most noticeable, especially if the WiFi connection you are using is weak or an older version. As a test, I transferred a 2.9 GB file (an ISO file, specifically) from my network attached storage (NAS) to my MacBook Pro over WiFi (same room as the router is located) and over Ethernet with this adapter. The Wifi connection took 1 minute, 29 seconds to transfer the file. With this Ethernet adapter and a wired connection to my router, the same file transferred in just 26 seconds. Whether you need this adapter on the go, or you want to improve your desktop setup by having a wired network connection to your router when you are at home, this is a worthy buy. Like many Insignia products, it's clearly built to last and should be able to handle many repeated connections to both Ethernet and USB.
