After multiple days of testing / using this adapter in my daily workflow, I can attest to the fact that it's reliable and stable and provides fast connection speeds as intended. This doesn't seem to be a complicated product to produce so one would hope that it can function reliably and so far it has. Build quality is solid. I didn't see any readily apparent manufacturing defects or issues that one may see when buying something similar from other retailers. My internet connection is, on paper, 800 down and about 25 up. With this adapter, I was actually hitting anywhere from 750 to a bit over 800 down and consistently 23 up. So, to me, that's a good thing. In my use, I haven't felt the adapter heating up or displaying any other outwardly apparent concerns. All in all, I think this is a completely capable ethernet adapter at a generally fair price. There are many products in this category so pick whichever one works the best for your situation. If it turns out to be this one, you won't be let down.

As many of the ports we used to rely on seem to be disappearing from our devices, especially laptops, the need for adapters keeps growing. As someone who is often helping others with their troubled technology, the reliability of a wired network connection is critical. Laptops are so thin now that few include an Ethernet adapter, as it's too thick for the laptop chassis. However, it's amazing how many times I run into issues with WiFi connections (device just won't connect, person cannot remember their WiFi password and I need to access the router, or a new installation where there is no driver for the WiFi card). Sometimes we just need a wired network connection. Enter yet another adapter, but this is a good one. My experience with Insignia products has always been excellent, as they are of much higher quality than many of the lesser-known brands, and equal or even better than the name-brands. No exception here, as this Ethernet adapter is very well built. The adapter itself is a little bulky, but that's the nature of this type of connection, so I wouldn't expect it to be much smaller, and I think that would actual degrade the quality. The housing is metal with a high-quality plastic interior. It does not feel like it's going to bend or warp under pressure. Inserting and removing Ethernet cables, even ones with a "boot" (that little rubber cover that protects the tiny plastic tab you press to remove it). This is appreciated because I honestly hate dealing with any cable with a boot, but they are necessary in some environments. The connector snaps in with a satisfying click, but is easily removed, meaning it's not so tight that the materials are scraping against each other. The other end is USB-C, with the same type of quality housing. It also plugs in and is removed with ease. I had no trouble with either my MacBook Pro or my Dell Inspiron notebook. The problem is that this is a USB-C connector, meaning it will work with newer devices, including almost all Apple computers and many newer PC's, but if you are dealing with an older computer, you will need an adapter for your adapter (haha!) in order to connect the USB-C connector to your USB-A port. The connection these two is a flexible braided cable which bends easily for flexibility, but feels sturdy. However, if you are throwing this into a bag, you probably want to use some caution as it may damage the interior wiring if the cable is bend to sharply. Transfer speeds were exactly what I expected and in line with my desktop computer that is always on a wired connection. Honestly, for web browsing, generally there is not a very noticeable difference between WiFi and Ethernet, because the network data is limited. Bandwidth intensive activities such as streaming video or transferring files is where the difference is most noticeable, especially if the WiFi connection you are using is weak or an older version. As a test, I transferred a 2.9 GB file (an ISO file, specifically) from my network attached storage (NAS) to my MacBook Pro over WiFi (same room as the router is located) and over Ethernet with this adapter. The Wifi connection took 1 minute, 29 seconds to transfer the file. With this Ethernet adapter and a wired connection to my router, the same file transferred in just 26 seconds. Whether you need this adapter on the go, or you want to improve your desktop setup by having a wired network connection to your router when you are at home, this is a worthy buy. Like many Insignia products, it's clearly built to last and should be able to handle many repeated connections to both Ethernet and USB.

Works great. Plugged it into my phone, set my phone to mobile hotspot and usb ethernet and its good enoth to play online games.

As more laptops drop ethernet in favor of wireless and ports move from USB-A to USB-C this handy ethernet adapter is a must have for your technical tool bag. Those of us that work on the enterprise side of technology have dozens of daily uses for Ethernet and having a solid sturdy adapter that can easily be swapped from device to device makes our lives so much easier. I love the construction quality of this cable! The firm rubber covering on both ends and the nylon braided cable provide the strength to take the beating these things suffer as I move them from device to device. This brand offers a longer cable length than many of the other ethernet dongles I have which is also helpful in positioning the dongle properly on whatever surface you are resting it on. The network performance is on-par with what you would expect from a 1GB NIC though it will negotiate down to 10MB for those unlucky enough to be in that scenario. What I’d love to see Insignia produce is a 1GB/2.5GB/10GB version of this same adapter. That would be amazing. If you need Ethernet support for your devices you can’t go wrong with this adapter.

It does what it's suppose to do so it's a good deal

This adapter is working perfectly now. When I first tried to use it, the indicator lights worked but I could not connect to the Internet. I called Best Buy support and the tech told me to reboot my computer. That was all it took for the computer and adapter to communicate.

Good for what it is not immediately recognized by phone took a minute to get working. Better options include power cable for some that also deliver power to device.

Have it in use for my company laptop which has no eth adapter. This USB-c(Type-C) adapter is VERY USEFUL, and easy to install. NO NETWORK drops or lag at all. I would def recommend if your laptop has no conventional eth adapter.

Adapter works as it should. No issues with the device.

Works great using the Galaxy 20S phone as the source for my intranet. Some devices I have requires a wired connection to the internet, and this adapter made that possible.

The Insignia USB-C to Ethernet Adapter worked great connecting my ethernet cord to my apple macbook pro.
