This adapter functions as it should. Using this adapter allows you to convert a VGA video signal to a more common USB-C and it works perfectly. You will however also need a VGA cable just FYI. At first glance, the build quality seems to be very well constructed and should last many years. I would have preferred it to be at least offered in black or a darker color than white as the white colorway is a little too noticable especially if your setup doesn't allow you to hide the adapter. The connection is as sturdy as it gets. It has the VGA screw holes that allow you to secure your VGA cable to it. Tried and true. The adapter supports resolutions up to 1080p @ 60Hz and will allow for either extending or mirroring your current display. The adapter is not just for monitors but can be used on multiple devices such as televisions as will as projectors and I highly recommend this for anyone with gear that has older connections and needs a little bump up to current USB-C technology. It's also a nice piece of kit to have in your IT bag.

Couldn't get this adapter to work either. Kinda of annoying that something so basic doesn't work.

I have a computer setup with a dual screen monitor that uses a VGA port while I use a laptop that exclusively uses USB-C ports for work. I needed an adapter to be able to connect the two on days when my work from home tasks require multiple screens without using screen sharing. I also use it to connect my other devices to a home theater projector. This Insignia adapter really helped with filling this need, and was a really convenient solution. I love that it's compact and it can fit inside my laptop bag when I need it on work trips with how portable it is. I was worried that the output would degrade in picture quality but it didn't really change which helped enhance our movie viewing experience when streaming from my laptop. It doesn't lag whatsoever, which is a common occurrence when using external displays from personal experience. The cord looks well made and seems like it'll last even with consistent insertion into various ports. It fits snugly but not to the point that it's difficult to remove. The packaging it came in was nice and easy to open. Overall, it serves me really great for its function and I highly recommend it to anyone needing the same type of adapter. There's not much to say because it really is just an adapter, but it does its job, and that's what counts with this product.
