Insignia usb-c VGA adapter is compatible with windows 10 and 11, Mac OS and chrome OS. I was happy that it worked setting up a second monitor using the HDMI being that most laptops no longer have the HDMI port, it came in handy when my laptop went to sleep and the screen never turned back off on I couldn't figure it out till a IT guy at work told me to connect it to my other laptop as a second monitor that it would recognize it and wake it up unfortunately my other laptop also did not have an HDMI outlet so I was able to connect it to my desktop it took a few minutes but it finally worked I was so excited being that my laptop was only a few weeks old when the screen stopped turning on. The insignia VGA is also great to connect my laptop to my tv to view the slideshow of my friends wedding and other pictures and videos I uploaded from my phone. It's small compact size fits perfectly in my laptop bag I now travel with it everywhere it been the best easy to use even for the non tech person, I highly recommend picture quality was great.

Purchased this adapter to connect a MacBook to a projector for an outdoor movie night. We could get sound but no picture. Needless to say kids were disappointed. It would be helpful to what the adapter is compatible to and what it is not.

It did not work for a windows 11 machine and I couldn't find anywhere to try to download and reinstall the drivers!

After making the second trip to the store, a 60 mile round trip, the adapter that the sales person said would work, did not work.

This product didn’t work so I ended up returning it for another product. Doesn’t mean it want work for what you need it for.

Bad quality. It stopped working after a couple of uses!

The Insignia™ - USB-C-to-VGA Adapter is just what’s needed if you’re trying to connect from a modern device such as a laptop or tablet which uses USB-C to an older monitor or projector having a VGA port but no HDMI. VGA used to be the universal standard for connecting computers to monitors or projectors, but no longer. For many good reasons, it has been replaced by better solutions which has led to today’s universal standard of HDMI. HDMI offers sound through-put and much higher resolutions. Sometimes, however, you are in a situation where you simply have no choice. You’re trying to work with an older device that has no HDMI. It is simple, straight-forward, high quality, and it simply works. It supports resolutions up to 1080p or 1990 x 1200 which is helpful and appropriate. Most, if not all, older devices sporting only VGA (monitors or projectors) will only offer maximum resolutions in that range. The fact that the Insignia adapter also supports 60Hz for both resolutions is a plus. If you’re like me, you’re not crazy about dongles. I’ve accumulated boxes of various dongles over the years which I’d love to throw away - but there’s that nagging thought that I may need them some day. I know, it’s time to give it up and free some space. Maybe next year. The truth is, there are times when having the right dongle is what saves the day. Those are the times I really appreciate having it. If you are one of those who, like myself, sometimes find yourself needing to get connected for a presentation in an unfamiliar setting. This is a must-have dongle. You won’t regret having it in reach.

It seems like just yesterday that the majority of my devices became digital only. When I look through all of the equipment I've accrued in recent years, however, I realize that there is nary an analog connector to be found. In fact, the only monitor I have that doesn't sport a DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI connector is hooked up to an old Gateway2000 PC reserved specifically for retro gaming. Well, at least it was until recently when it finally gave up the ghost. Sure, you might say, there are plenty of ways to get close to a retro appearance with current tech, but those just never quite do it for me. There's nothing more authentic than playing era-appropriate games on an actual CRT monitor. Many games were even created taking the rounded-ness of televisions and CRT monitors into account and don't look quite right on today's high resolution flat-panel VA / TN / IPS / etc.. displays. As such, I was very happy to find this well-built and totally budget-friendly option. It couldn't be more simple. It's totally plug and play, works with my old CRT from the 90's, and I very much appreciate that it allows me to screw in the VGA connector. Many more expensive options do not include this and as those of us that have tried to use VGA cables without screwing them down can attest, they don't stay connected for long and bent pins are just a very bad time. I am VERY pleased with this adapter and would definitely recommend it to others.

The Insignia USB-C-to-VGA Adapter is a great device for use with all computers, laptops, and USB-C tablets capable of outputting their display to another device. This device comes in handy when trying to connect to some older monitors and projectors that support VGA input only. Many monitors now have HDMI connection, while some will have HDMI as well as a VGA connection. This adapter also works with iPads with a USB-C port. I prefer connecting my iPad to monitors or projectors that have VGA connection because it allows me to use the speakers on my iPad. When I use a device that has an HDMI input, the sound is transmitted through the HDMI cable and not the iPad. This was not useful for me because not all monitors have speakers. However, after the most recent Apple updates, you can now change the input from the HDMI device to your iPad speakers through Control Center on the iPad. I have no issues when using this adapter with my MacBook and iPad. The USB-C cable plugs into my MacBook and iPad with a very solid connection. Overall, I like this adapter and plan to get a lot of use from it.

This little adapter is good in the fact that it frees up your computer’s VGA connection for another monitor or any other device that uses a VGA connection (camera, projector, etc.) The Insignia USB-C to VGA Adapter is only about 9” total length with makes it very portable. I bring it with me when visiting my clients so that I can use their monitors. The only thing was that to connect to my older monitor, I had to purchase a VGA to VGA cable (male to male cable), not included. But it still worked perfectly. The VGA Adapter is made out of a sturdy hard plastic with a rubber USB-C connector and appears to be very durable. The Adapter includes just 2 things, the USB-C to VGA adapter and a quick setup guide, making it very simple to use. It allows the user to connect to just about any computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone, that has a USB-C port to any VGA device. The Insignia USB-C to VGA Adapter can be used with Windows 10, 11, MacOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, and AndroidOS. I recommend it for its portability, ease of use, and connectability.

Some of us still have older computer equipment around the house. Occasionally an opportunity to use it presents itself. For me, I have an older monitor that uses a VGA serial cable to connect. I want to use it occasionally when I’m working from the back room. This Insignia cable made it easy to connect my laptop to the monitor. The cable itself is quite sturdy. Both of the ends, have a covering that seems very durable. The VGA connection has a hard plastic cover, and the USB-C connection has what seems like a very sturdy rubber type of finish. Where the cable plugs into both connections also appear to be well constructed and very resilient. As someone who travels for work, I keep several different cables in my computer bag as frequently I need to connect to equipment (think projector or large monitor) at the client site. I never know what type of equipment they will have available. I expect this cable will stand up to my travel schedule and come in handy. The cable is 9 inches long, end to end.

Works as advertised! Exactly what I needed to connect to an older monitor

No problems. I had purchased a USB adapter that did not work at all. But this USB C to VGA adapter connect to the Thunderbolt port and works great.
