Great for Google Voice and Cortana
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've wondered how Cortana stacked up against Google Assistant and Siri, but not enough to buy a microphone. However, I have poor cell service at my home, which makes calls a chore. This microphone works great with Google Voice - problem solved. Got a couple random pop-ups during setup, but no real problems.

Good Enough

The price was right and my friends can hear me, so that is good enough for me. The "On" light has never worked, but it isn't a deal breaker. Also works with Cortana.

This morning going on a game to play with my brother it just stopped working for no apparent reason. And for $20 at that....not worth it unless your getting taxes back very soon to replace this. This review will also go for the Afterglow pl-9930r and the turtle beach gold for ps4. DO NOT buy these. they will break soon (3-4 months) after purchase.

Doesn't work well with desktop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this in store, as it seemed to be a good quality and was exactly what I was looking for. I plugged it into my computer, and I didn't notice for quite a while (as I never listened to my own audio) that there was an ever-present buzzing. Unfortunately, this sound has never gone away (and is not a grounding issue) but rather picking up interference from the PSU in my desktop. So basically it turned out to be a complete waste of money and I am now considering buying a different microphone as this one is useless to me.

Horrible Audio Quality & More

The cord was too short, moving the micrphone's position (rotating it up or down) snapped something off within the microphone that rattled around within the microphone, the volume button was stuck after changing the volume of it a little bit, and when I actually went to record, I couldn't even HEAR MYSELF over the obnoxious humming the microphone had (I am in a completely silent, and sound proofed room). When I went into Adobe Audition and removed the noise, it was still horrible. When I could actually hear myself, I was too quiet. I STILL couldn't hear myself, and when I increased the audio gain (not the external speaker volume, the audio's volume itself), the hum was back and worse than ever, still nearly muting my voice. After extensive noise reduction, I was limited to what I believe was my voice (it sounded like I was listening to myself through one really, really long tunnel. Please, for my sanity and yours, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS MICROPHONE. I'm sorry, but $20 is not going to get you a good microphone. A $20 headset could do better.

not very good microphone

Had to buy a USB to input adapter and even then couldn't decipher speech accurately. Actually gets worse the more one uses instead of actually adapting, learning. But at $20. You get what you pay for. Would have returned but the packaging and BB policies make it not worth bothering. Won't buy from BB again for that reason

White noise. Incompatible with win7 and 10
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product on April 27 2016 and tried it on both my Dell and Toshiba laptops. I had previously used logitech mics. Insignia sounded inferior because of white noise in background. When I called Insignia tech support I was told it is because the latest op system it is compatible with is XP. I asked him how long ago the mic was made. He said 2 years ago. I asked him if he thought that was a bit strange that the mic was made after win7 was the common op system but is not compatible with win7 or 10. He said yes. But then went into some sort of story about how this is not uncommon to have this happen. I would not buy an insignia product again.

Poor recording quality

As a result, this is not usable as a microphone for nearly any purpose (certainly not gaming or recording).

I am sorry for the situation you went through with this USB Microphone not working for your purpose. This happens most of the times due to the USB connection, if you want a steady and fast connection, I would recommend you to use devices with audio (3.5mm) cable.

Worked well for a while...

It doesnt plug into my computer properly and no longer actually captures my voice. I got this yesterday and now its broken?!? Come on...

The actual audio quality is just OK, but there is a constant buzzing accompanying it. Playing CSGO, which is a game where teamwork is key in competitive modes, and people were telling me to just stop using my mic because of how terrible it is... Promptly returning and shelling out 30 extra for a Blue mic. I also tried playing with the gain settings and you can get the buzz to go away, but then you can barely be heard...

It's like you're using one of those 'robot voice' toys from the 90's. Even if it was $5 and you needed a microphone there would still be better options. This thing was $20 and I only got it because I had a BB giftcard and needed a desktop microphone, this was the only one in my budget range.

Range in not good
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This microphone does the job if you're sitting inches in front of it, but if you want a microphone with any range at all I would not recommend this. It won't pick up what I'm saying from even a few feet away. I ordered a cheap $4 microphone on ebay from China a while back and it has much better range than this one, would not recommend.
