I am sure if it was a more powerful laptop and a newer monitor it would have been fine. It didn't work for me so I returned it. Return was easy and will keep Best Buy as my go to electronics store.

Works for macOS Catalina but no driver for Big Sur

Going back to Catalina was a pain, so I just exchanged this for a miniDisplay port->VGA adapter.

Although I downloaded the drivers and followed the instructions, the adapter didn't work. This was a replacement for a misplaced adapter that worked fine. I will return it tomorrow.
