The selection of channels on a hotel TV is less than desirable so I plug this into my phone and can watch whatever I want on the tv.

I think the devices that can stream using this adapter are supposed to be high-end devices with USB-C to HDMI connectivity enabled. Luckily, Best Buy gives you the opportunity to try these items and return if it does not work.
