I use this adapter for three things: connecting a WD external drive for backing up, an iPhone for downloading photos, and a printer for scanning and printing. So far so good. Attaching / re-attaching on the usb-A side requires a little more effort, but not problematic.

The connection was average, as I sometimes had to re attach. These type of adapters from Apple are more expensive, so if you are on a budget, this will do.
