    I purchased two of these cables, these are standard USB 3.0 to type C. This cannot power USB C higher powered devices, but works well for portable HD.

    This adapter is necessary considering that the newer computers don't have a regular USB port. Buy one (or 3 like I did).

    I've got two computers that have a 3.1 USB connector. I bought this so I could use a 2.0 or a 3.0 USB device to the computer. Works like it should.

    Recently replaced my old HP Chromebook for a Samsung Chromebook Plus (which i must say was a fantastic purchase on it's own right), the down-side to the new Chromebook, it only has USB type C ports and all my external drives are USB 3 (type A) - quick purchase, quick fix. Works like a charm.

    Very fast transfer files from USB drive to USB-C phone although would have been nice to not have to buy it. Regretfully the adapter included with Note 8 to adapt the Microplug on previous adapter would have worked. Why include a micro to C adapter if it won't work for all functions???

    Newer computers have a different type of USB plug, which my allegedly-tech-savvy husband didn't realize when he bought a new computer for our son. Nothing he owned (mouse, flash drives, etc.) could be used with his new laptop! This adapter is a small, simple fix to this unexpected problem.
