it works like it should clock is helpful in the shop

I've had two of these for a little more than a week and I think they've actually been CONNECTED to the internet for less than a third of that time. I have to set them up literally every day because not only do they lose connection to WiFi (despite one being in the SAME room as the router - like 6 FEET away from it), they basically lose their identity and need to be reset over and over and over... So today they went offline three times. Back in their boxes they go for a return to the store tomorrow. If it were just one I'd say I got a lemon, but TWO behaving in identical fashion leads me to believe these are junk and that's why they were on sale for so little. AVOID.

We needed a new dual alarm clock. The Insignia Voice Speaker turned out to be the perfect choice with it's clock display and voice interface. It's especially nice when you are trying to set multiple alarms in the morning. No more fumbling around trying to figure out which button to press, or getting into some weird mode because the buttons are multipurpose. Just tell it when you want to set the alarm, and tap the top to stop the alarm. The price, especially on sale, makes it a real no-brainer. Physically, it's small (3.5"x3.5"x6"tall) and has a usable (1A) USB charging port. The sound quality is quite good, at least on a par with other smart speakers in this price range. The volume and display brightness are adjustable with the 'soft' buttons on the top. Although there is no auto-dimming function, the default display brightness is easily visible during the day and not objectionable at night. Having Google Assistant is a real added bonus. Being able to turn the heat up on a cold morning without leaving the bed, or turn off all the lights in the house when you go to bed is great. Getting the news, weather, traffic, agenda, or just playing music in the morning just by asking is actually useful and, yes, pretty fun. The list of things you can do just keeps increasing, it really does feel like a portal into a new world.
