It would be a much better speaker/alarm clock if the clock portion worked without wifi. If it loses its internet connection, even the clock portion stops working. Unacceptable for an alarm clock.

The directions say, "make sure the clock is set," however, there are not directions to set the clock. I can't get it hooked up to my Google home. So it is just a black box that is useless.

I purchased this out of curiosity, not expecting much out of it. My wife was having knee surgery so my thought was to buy this (it was a bundle with a smart plug) and she could turn the lamp on and off without getting up as well as listen to music and change the thermostat. After playing with this for an hour I was amazed. - The sound is better than our previous Bluetooth speaker (it is a couple years old) - It worked right off with the Nest and the smart plug with no issues - We love having the clock displayed all the time - Even at a very loud volume level it can hear you say "hey Google" and reacts After a month of using this (maybe the newness hasn't worn off yet) we find ourselves using it every chance we can, actually going to this instead of our phones. We have loved it so much that we bought the Google Home for downstairs and yes the speaker quality seems better on the Google Home, and you can make calls from it but not on this Insignia. Overall I would recommend this as a great clock/Bluetooth/smart-speaker/wizard in a box.

I did read a lot of the reviews before I purchased mine so I was concerned that this might be a waste of money. But I have really wanted a Google Home with the a screen of some sort. Don't like having to ask Google for the time. So when I saw this in an email it got my interest. I love my Google Homes and minis. They are almost essential for a smart home. The only downside of them to me is no basic display. Just a clock and weather were all i was wanting. So this fits what I have wanted for about a year. I'm not going to rehash the complaints of others although I will say some are more valid than others. I have not had an issue with random noises, volume fluctuations or time zones. I did notice that night mode is not available on this unit. Not too much of a problem since you can set the master and alarm volumes separately. I know that is rather new for the Google units so maybe it will show up in a later update. My main purpose for the Voice was as a bedroom alarm clock replacement. Display is good for this and easily visible from 10-12 feet. I wish the temp would display constantly, but I know that that part of the display is used for other functions so I can live with it. I give it 5/5 for replacing my bedside clock. For those reviews bemoaning the sound quality I think you're being pretty unfair. It is not quite as good as the Google Home but far better than the Home Mini. If you are wanting a high-end immersive sound then you need to look at some of the other devices designed for that. Sonos makes a very nice unit but you are going to pay for it. Or wait for the Google Home Max to come out. No free lunch, but the sound is fine for the average user. I'm comfortable with giving 4 stars. I would hope that the good people at Insignia listen to the suggestions of their customers and look forward to seeing what the 2.0 version looks like. Not that this one is bad, but there is room for growth.

Did not connect to the internet. I tried several times to reset the device and retry, but it never worked. I ended up returning the product.

Even though it was next to router could not establish a connection through Google home despite already having a working account

After 2 weeks I couldn’t listen music because I don’t have an iTunes account and I couldn’t return because return policy is 14 days. I’m really disappointed, I lost money.

It connected at first but after trying update firmware it keeps telling me that I need to run setup from my phone. then it keeps going to loading and never stops loading.

Issues with setup and never worked any features except displaying time. Not a good product and will not recommend.

i do not recommend this, it will activate anytime u talk to your phone and tell you you need a subscription to do "that". its a $50 paperweight that tells time.

This is not really a google assistant. It sometimes will answer and sometimes not. I really had hoped it would work but not so. Save your money.

Okay as an alarm clock but failed on all other tasks. Did not connect to wifi/ internet with multiple tries and two units. On sale for a reason.

these speakers are HORRIBLE. i could not get the google assistant feature to work, only the casting feature. awful speakers. returned.

It was no longer functional after 6months. My teen didn’t want another we just bough an Alexa for him.

Don't ever use it as an alarm. It NEVER plays what I want when I tell it to. It is the worst thing I have ever bought. Buy anything else.

Spent all day trying to get it to connect to our WiFi. Never happened. Very disappointed.

The device would almost never connect to the internet. It wasn't my internet connection. becuase my Alexa would always respond.

not sure about this, it was a free gift with purchase. Gave it to my daughter, she seems to be having trouble pairing it with her phone.

So if this one you gave was bad or wouldn't pair with bluetooth for some reason maybe send one that will or one not damaged ??
