    Great product, if it works

I loved the first two I bought, and bought ones for all the members of my extended family. It plays music and controls wifi lights, thermostat, and switches beautifully. However, when I tried to add another to my home, no luck, it doesn't function. I exchanged two more for new ones at the store, and no luck there, either. I've been on the Insignia troubleshooting discussion group, and have learned that this is a common problem, and the firmware will not update. So I will have to be happy with a few in my home, and not add more of this model.

Clock is five hours off. Followed directions to fix it from customer service and from other customer posts. Did not work. Doesn’t display temp even though it says it does. Speaker is decent sound but if you turn up Google won’t understand you unless you scream.

      Hello there,

Thank you for buying our Voice Smart Bluetooth Speaker. Regarding your inquiries let me start by suggesting to reset the speaker to factory default, once you go through the first time setup process again please make sure that you select a large city in same timezone and log in to your google account.

This speaker does display the outside temperature when asked and it will stay on the screen for 60 seconds but this is only upon request.

Lastly, I want to explain that voice recognition has limits when music is playing loud, you could either get closer or reduce the volume.

I bought two of these for my teenage boys. They LOVE this speaker! Both connected to WiFi and Google assistant on cell phones with no problems. I'm so glad I made this purchase.

Go for the official Google Home

I own this, the Google Home and the Google Home Mini. This sounds about as good as the mini (no bass). I bought this mainly to use as an alarm clock...I can't recommend for that use. The snooze is poorly implemented. Wave your hand over the proximity sensors on the top rarely works. Should have the option of using the touch buttons. There is a light on the back that occasionally blinks for no reason. Once so far it has lost network connectivity in the middle of the night and needed a hard reboot...luckily I woke to see the display flashing before I was late for work. Get yourself a mini and a normal alarm clock.

NS-CSPGASP SKU: 5865801 I bought 2 speakers when they was on sale. I really tried to like Insignia product but this will be the last time. The speaker worked well for 2 weeks then one day one of the unit keep saying "there's glitch, please try again later" , At 1st I thought it was Google server but when I test on other Google home products in the house and they're working fine and there's nothing with my Wifi. I reset the device a few times & even delete my Google home app and reinstall it in an attempt to reconnect the device then another error pops up in my app "unable to connect to the cloud". This is when I begin to suspect that there's something wrong with the device wifi antennae that prevented it from connect to the wifi. I ended up returned the device at a local Best Buy. My other experience with Insignia product wasn't good either. I also bought 2 Insignia digital radio clocks and they too died after a year when the light on the digital number failed to glow and the other just died. Over all, I am very disappointed with Insignia products. Insignia is more than welcome to contact me for further info on the products. I should just spend a little more in the beginning to get a "name brand" device and save on future problems & extra spending. PN

Not as good as Google home.

I thought it would have nearly as much function as a traditional Google home device but I was wrong. I don't care about the fact that it can't make calls. My biggest issue is that it doesn't execute routine command , and the biggest of all, it doesn't have continuous listening. For the purchase price of $25, but I wouldn't recommend paying much for this device untill it could function as a Google home

It's fine, but it's not an alarm

    Posted .

It's ok, but a word (or two) of warning: If you're buying this as a (music) alarm clock, DON'T! The volume on the music alarm is not adjustable (a documented issue since February!) and they have no idea when (if) the issue will be fixed. Doesn't bode well for other #Insignia prods. There is a setting in the Home app for Alarms and Timers, but that setting is completely ignored for media/music alarms, which (still) always go on at 40%. Support for this product/issue is awful. I called at least three times about it (and a different volume issue) and got varying degrees of incompetence and ignorance. The other features seem fine. I had no issue with the sound quality (I'm not an audiophile) nor the Google Assistant features.

    Mostly good but seriously flawed

    Posted .

The speaker works well generally but with a major flaw. It can't play at low volume without the sound breaking up as if the connection is dropping out and then reconnecting. The same thing happens if there are quiet sections in the music. This happens when it is streaming from WiFi or connected to a phone through bluetooth. I bought two units and both do this. My Google Home Mini works perfectly in the same location. Since I want to use it at my bedside I have to be able to turn the volume down so this is not suitable as a bedside speaker. Also, while the brightness of the clock display can be adjusted, the dimmest is still quite bright which means you have to turn the unit away from the bed and then of course you can't see the time. Both issues could be fixed by better design. I do like the volume controls, though. Much better and easier to use than the Google Mini.

    Frustrating setup

    Posted .

I purchased one of these alarm clocks for use in master bedroom. It was real easy to setup. Enjoyed it so much that my daughter wanted one and had to "play around" with it to get setup. After that another one was purchased for another bedroom in our house where my wife tends to sleep in because she stays up late reading. I have struggled multiple times to get her clock to work like the other two we have. I even contacted Google technical support and they said they cant help because its an Insignia device. If you are going to purchase one its ok but multiple ones I would not recommend. I did call Insignia and was on hold for 30 minutes. called back next day, was put on hold and then some one answered but then they hung up on me. Very bad customer service practices. Be careful. I have had many Insignia products and had good success but now i am questioning their products.

    OK

It functions OK. Does not have all the capabilities of the Google mini (no voice call) I guess it needs Insignia to keep the firmware updated. As an alarm clock voice is not as easy as using an app. And the wifi reception range is not great. But it does function as a basic clock music player and home assistant.

    Such a disappointment

I had hoped to move away from using my cell phone as my alarm clock. For about a week I was thrilled with this device. The alarm function worked beautifully, and with such a soothing tone. And to be able to set it just by asking for it was amazing. However, the fact that this requires a WiFi connection in order for the clock/alarm to work is insane. If you are purchasing solely for the benefit of controlling devices in your home and/or as a speaker this may suffice. But the second you lose WiFi your alarm clock is useless.

No longer works well with Google Home

Bought two of these insignia voice speakers (this one and the portable one) in November to integrate with 3 google home speakers. Was working fine until the last few days - I just tested again this morning, and it seems these override the google homes if both the insignia mic and the google home mic are triggered - even if the google home is closer. The two insignia speakers can tell which is closest and respond on the closest one, but if a google home is closer, the insignia speakers take over - even from several rooms away. Tried unpairing, resetting, etc - no fix. Perhaps there was a recent firmware update that screwed this up. Thinking about returning these if it's not fixed soon.
