    It used to be great

Since the update to firmware 318, the music alarm doesn't play any music. It just blinks.

Stuck on firmware 105 so no alarm or phone calls

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First, this is supposed to be an alarm clock. But I can't set an alarm because my unit will not update to a newer firmware. It's stuck on version 105, so will get a "sorry, there was a glitch..." message when trying to set an alarm. Of course, also can't make phone calls, use the equalizer, etc.. because of older firmware.

Doesn't work with Google Home Mini

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I received my Insignia Smart Speaker in Dec 2017. I have a Google Home Mini within hearing range of my Insignia smart speaker. Even if the Google Home Mini is closer when I say "hey google", the Insignia smart speaker "takes over" and responds. I read somewhere online that this used to work correctly...that the insignia smart speaker would let the google home mini respond when it was closer. This NO LONGER WORKS CORRECTLY. The Insignia smart speaker ALWAYS responds even if it's much further away. This makes using my google home mini's almost unusable. THIS MUST BE FIXED or the Insignia smart speaker is basically useless....at least as far as my situation is concerned. If someone from Bestbuy/Insignia is reading this, PLEASE FIX THIS SO THAT THE INSIGNIA SMART SPEAKER AND GOOGLE HOME MINIS WORK WITH EACH OTHER!!!!! Note: as of 1/7/2018, this was still not working correctly.

    A fair attempt.

Bought this primarily as a bedside clock. However the time is always two hours ahead and there seems to be no way to fix that. Regardless of manual or automatic time zone on setup device, the dang thing is stubborn in believing it is two hours ahead. The speaker is also only as good as a home mini.

Not as Advertised - not Bluetooth

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Even though in the title it clearly says it's a Bluetooth device, it will not play music from your phone. By bluetooth, it means you can use your phone to tell it what music to play via bluetooth, but not stream them from your phone. You must upload all your music to Google's cloud, and then you can listen to it that way. If you have limited bandwidth, this is going to be a problem. That also means you can't use it for anything else, either - not for playing the sound from a game or another app. I returned mine. I bought mine online. Interestingly, the actual product doesn't have bluetooth in the title - " Insignia Voice-Voice Activated Speaker", though on the box it does say bluetooth compatible, though again doesn't specify that it won't play from your device.

    Great Sound Terrible Connection

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Constantly disconnects from the internet. The sound is great but I wouldn't trust it as an alarm since the alarm needs wifi to work and the wifi randomly disconnects all the time even though it is close to the router.

    Does not support custom routines

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This device works great except for its lack of support for Assistant's custom routines. I hope Insignia adds support for this in a firmware update, but it appears that they are dropping support for this product.

    Clock stuck on Eastern Time

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I wish I was joking, but I purchased this product yesterday at a Best Buy in Phoenix, set it up via the Google Home app, and the clock displays only Eastern time! There doesn't appear to be a way to change the clock physically. I called tech support, and the offshore rep's only advice was to reset it, and when that didn't work, told me to return it. If this is a known issue with the device, Best Buy's should pull this from the shelves or post a warning. Maybe this will be fixed with an upcoming firmware update, but the clock is the one differential feature vs. a Google Home Mini, etc.

Hello, thanks a lot for your review! We're sorry you're having issues with the Time Zone on your speaker's display. This occurs when you have selected the "manual" time setting on your phone or smart device. Here is how you correct this problem: 1. Do a Factory Default Reset (FDR) on your Insignia Voice™ speaker by pressing the microphone/mute button on the back for ~12 seconds until the LED's turn solid Orange. 2. Make sure your phone (device) is set to "AUTO TIME ZONE" and is showing the correct time. 3. Once the device announces "Hi, I'm You're Google Assistant . . .", finish the set up on the Google Home app. Contact us at 1-877-467-4289 if you continue having issues and one of our representatives will happily assist you! Don't get the other reviews

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought two of these and they are absolute garbage. The sound is lacking, and the voice assistant doesn't do much assisting. However, my biggest issue is that these lose connection constantly and then it is nearly impossible to get them functioning again. They will randomly display "net" on them, then I have to do a factory reset, completely delete them from the google home app, and start over from scratch. I just wish I could still return them.

Randomly appears as open unsecured network

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Device randomly appears as an open, unsecured network in list of available wifi networks. I don't understand why and it seems like a security risk for someone to backdoor their way into my secured home network, though I'm not tech savvy enough to know if that's a warranted concern or not. Insignia and Best Buy customer service both seemed completely incapable of giving me instructions on how to secure the device. Otherwise, it was kind of cool but I'm going to try to return it because it's making me uncomfortable.

    This is junk

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Well, if you like having it go off line all the time then this is the device for you. And don't even think about customer service. They will either leave you on hold for 10-15 min or they tell you to reboot all you devices including the router and MAYBE it will come back on line. If you like talking to India then this is what you want. I only gave it one star because there is no "No Star" option.

    Ripoff!

Biggest ripoff ever! I loved it, worked well but just as the plan expired google stopped "supporting" this product, not only no updates but actually disabled it so it could no longer function in any way! May as well have stolen it from me, even the clock couldn't work!

    Failed Unit

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Unfortunately my experience with this speaker was a poor one. It seemed to work for about 1/2 of a day and then it started shutting off by itself mid song. I followed the online troubleshooting guide by doing a reset and moving it closer to my WiFi router in case it was a signal issue. It finally gave up the ghost later that day by going into some sort of automatic download mode and now the speaker will not even light up or reset.

Stopped working after 2 months, great quality.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It served me well for 2 months until one day it suddenly disconnected from my home wifi and wouldn't reconnect anymore. I tried performing a factory reset and re-run the initial setup in the google home app but to no avail, it constantly got stuck at the wifi setup with the display showing "nEt" and wouldn't want to go anywhere beyond that. Now I'm just left with a fancy brick.

Speaker doesn't perform alarm clock functionality

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Don't buy this speaker on sale or otherwise. The speaker will not set Alarms and hasn't updated its firmware for months. Support will insist the problem is the fault of Google. Their only advice was to wait or take the product back.

In therory this is an awesome device. Unfortuantley it is dissconnected from wifi more than connected. I use a $400 eerro mesh network, so i didnt think it was my network. Then i talked to a friend who was having the same issue with the product. I hate giving bad reviews, but people should know.

Quit working after 2 months of light use

this product is great when it works. But mine quit working after just 2 months of light use: it no longer responds to voice commands. I reset it several times according to the trouble shooting procedure, but that did not help. Now How do i get customer service or warranty service? Thanks a lot.

My Insignia NS-CSPGASP-G never started to work. During setup just displays "Load" and nothing happens. It doesn’t show up on a Google Home up, buttons do not respond, you can’t activate bluetooth connection nor reset the unit. Had bad luck buying this one.
