Bought as alarm clocks for bedrooms. Love the clock on the front. Very sensitive voice microphone. It can here us when far away in other rooms or from another floor of the house. Talk softly if you have multiple of these or your alarms will go off everywhere. It is very convenient, easy to setup. At $25, it a fantastic google assistant.

Set up is a breeze after installing Google Home. Sound is pretty good. It has a mute button on the back which I use most of the time due to privacy concern. The reason for four stars is outside temperature does not stay. It only shows up when ask about the weather for seconds then disappear. Would be better if the temperature stays like the clock.

    Good Replacement For Alarm Clock

This item came up on the daily deals list and I decided to look into it further. I originally had an old alarm clock with a built in iPod dock. As I haven't used the dock in years since iPods haven't been relevant in years, it was just a glorified alarm radio. Thus, I decided to upgrade to the Insignia™ - Voice™ Smart Bluetooth Speaker and Alarm Clock with Google Assistant - Gray. My honest thoughts on it: Pros: -The voice recognition works well. I don't really have problems ever when I issue voice commands. Sometimes it struggles to function when I am shouting across the room, but it always works when I am nearby. -The time is bright and easily seen. -I also have a Bluetooth soundbar in the room this is in, so I don't use it often for music. But when I do, the speaker is adequate for something its size. It is a cost effective insignia item so this isn't going to be able to power a party, but it works fine for one. -From alarm clock to asking for weather in the morning, it simplifies thing for the morning. Cons: -Occasionally the item recognizes various noises as voice commands when you aren't talking to it. Have had it issue a response to me a few times in the middle of the night. Also if this is near a TV whenever a hey google commercial comes on, it is going to answer. -This may be more of a router issue, but it does seem to drop service periodically which is unfortunate. With all that said, I recommend this if you are looking for a smart home device at a great cost.

    Better than Google Home Mini

I have Google Home Minis and Amazon Echos in every room in my house. I replaced my alarm clock with a Google Home Mini but missed having the time on the nightstand so I picked up one of these. The first one that I go had a defect in the display and you couldn't see the last digit. I had no issue exchanging it at the store for a replacement. The second unit that I got works great and has no issues. The sound quality is far superior to the Mini's and even better than the full size Amazon Echos that I have. The voice features work exactly as you would expect them to. One strange thing is that if you ask for the outside temperature, the device shows it on the screen below the time for about 30 seconds. I would like to have the option to leave this on all the time. Also, I haven't been able to get "continuous conversations" to work on this device as it does on native Google devices. I'm not sure if there is a buried setting that I'm missing or if this isn't enabled on 3rd party devices or specifically this device but that is a minor inconvenience. Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone, even over Google's native devices.

Bought this for my bedroom and moved the Google home to another room. This device is awesome. Acts and sounds just like the Google home it replaced, but it has a clock and is black! Love it. Highly recommended

This was a great deal for $24.99 on deal of the day. The speaker sounds really good, plenty of bass. This was my first item with google assist in it. It's a good feature, but not as good as the Echo products by Amazon. I wouldn't pay full retail for this, but if I catch it at $24.99 again, I'll buy several more for my house and gifts.

This is similar to my review of this speaker's big brother. Most of the features are the same. Headline here - this is a solid speaker with Google Assistant built in. The sound is very good for something this size. Why more devices don't have a clock on it is baffling. This makes a great bedside device. Cons ... the microphones aren't the best. I have a much more difficult time getting Google to hear me than I do with our Echo devices. Having the device hear you over the music can be a challenge. Other small problem - the device is bright. So much so that my daughter won't use hers as an alarm clock. She needs her room to be very dark and we cannot get the device LED to go nearly dim enough. Not sure if the issue is with the Google Home app or with the device. Again - not a big issue for most people I suspect. Just those that need things very dark in order to sleep. Small cons ... no calling (yet). Don't count on it coming. The weather really should always be present. Seems silly to have to ask for the temperature when it could just be displayed. Other than those issues I highly recommend this device. Paid $50 for it and feel that it is an excellent buy at that price.

The Insignia blue tooth speaker is a great tool to have around. It does a great job of being an assistant, keeping abreast of time, temperature and any current events that one may need to ask. I love how intuitive that is. The installed speaker is great and it coordinates well with the JBL blue tooth speaker that I use with Google Voice Assistant too. Overall, Ia very robust speaker with great features!

This is a good bed side alarm clock. The size is perfect with a small footprint. The light for the clock is just right. ( Not so bright that it keeps you awake ) The sound quality is fair. The google internet link is helpful for weather reports. This also links by bluetooth to our phone so we can play our music library.

A great speaker with Google Assistant built in. The nice feature is the alarm clock. All you have to do is say "OK Google or Hey Google, set the alarm for 7AM Monday through Friday" and that's all there is to it. It couldn't be any easier. The setup and connection was simple. We put it in the bedroom and it sounds great when playing music too. We are very happy with this speaker and bought several for gifts.

I bought several of these as they were on clearance. They put out good sound and the clock is a nice touch and useful in the rooms I've placed them. They can be easily grouped together and play content simultaneously. I'd give them 5 stars except when the network connection drops they have to be restarted,

It's been almost 2 years since I purchased this device and we've used it a few different ways in our home. At first, I had hoped this would become my bedside alarm clock. Setup was as easy as any other Google Home product. Settings alarms was also pretty simple "Hey Google, set an alarm for 6:30 tomorrow morning." I took off one star because they need to come up with a way to dim the blue clock LED even lower... or better yet, make it function like the Pixel's active display but configurable for certain times of the day. Like, I don't need to have the blue light on between 10pm and 6am--it's way too bright. But if I do wake up in the middle of the night, I could wave my hand over it and get the clock to turn on briefly, that would make this a 5-star product. As it is, we've moved this to our basement living space where we didn't have a clock. It sits near our big TV and is super handy when turning on the Nvidia Shield that is connected to that TV. "Hey Google, open Netflix on the Shield" is pretty slick, and we get to see what time it is... so that's neat.

I have not overslept once since getting this alarm clock. The Google assistant makes it a great little nightstand addition. And when i'm in the mood for music, the speaker has great sound quality. My teenager borrowed it for a summer pool party and "blasted" the jams. I've bought 3 more for Christmas gifts!

I mostly bought this to use an clock and alarm but it turned out being even better and more useful for me now. Being connected with google assistant, i can ask it to do many more things because set my alarm and ask it what time it is. Speaker is great for it's size and price range. I use it with an iPhone with the google assistant app so it works fine. Would recommend.

I have two Google Homes, three Google Home minis and this. I find this to be a nice upgrade from a Google Home Mini, with better speakers and a better microphone. The only downsides are it can't make phone calls like the minis can, and I can't get the temperature display to work at all. But I didn't buy it for that.

Best Home Speaker for the Money

I've got 3 of these and 2 Home minis (all of which I just realized were purchased here at Best Buy). Anyways - these are better than a Home mini because 2 things: the clock and they're louder on the low end. The minis handle the high end better, but sometimes you just want noise and the Voices are far from bad on the highs. Also, (as of this review) the Voices can be added to a speaker pair, minis cannot. Now, the Voice compared to normal Google Home - I don't have one but I played with it at Best Buy and the Home has this gross, almost sticky texture on top whereas the Voice is smooth, cool to the touch and something akin to glass. I really like it. I also love that as your fingers draw near, the buttons light up. (they are capacitive, but really responsive) All in all it's a solid speaker and hears you well. Oh, earlier when I got them they wouldn't reconnect to your wifi if the wifi rebooted - to fix it you had to unplug and replug in the Voice. Extremely annoying, but it seems to be fixed now, maybe. And if you're deciding Google or Alexa, go Google because it cites it's sources for answers (although Alexa can give more concise answers) and you can cast to Google. Plus Google has like 8 voices and Google maps. Yes, Alexa has its advantages (like the Skill store), but I've found myself using Google way more and just like it better.

I originally had this in a small office, but it's now in a living room. It's loud enough to fill the living room without sounding muddy or distorted. The google interface is excellent. I love linking my music accounts to it and not needing to take out my phone to put on a song or playlist. Every now and then, it doesn't understand the request, but for the most part it's right on point.

I bought this for one purpose. To use the voice activation for setting my alarm. I tend to wake up at different hours so having to reset my alarm all the time was getting annoying knowing there was an easier way. I saw this on sale months ago and kept putting it off. Finally it went on sale again and I purchased it online. I picked it up at my local store the next day and it's been great. I now use it to check the weather, humidity and to teach me Spanish. I know about 100 words and I'm able to ask it for translations or say a word to it in Spanish and it replies with the English translation. My only complaint is I also use voice activation on my Pixel. When they are in the same proximity, they both try to respond. Luckily the Pixel is usually locked and I just see the screen wanting to work. If the Pixel is active, I usually have to put it in another room. As for music, the speaker isn't that great. It's usable like a clock/radio but my Harmon Kardon Invoke with Cortana has much better audio. It's also 5 times the price when this is on sale.
