Great for trying Google Home

First, I have an Amazon Echo Dot (Alexa) as well as Google Home Mini, so this wasn't my first voice-activated device. I first got one of these as a bonus when I bought a blender. Thank goodness I did. This thing is great! It gets configured by downloading the Google Home app and connecting to your home network. Once you get connected, it not only displays the time, but you have the ability to ask it questions like, "what's the weather?" or my favorite, "how long will it take me to drive to work?" Those come from configuring your account with your location and setting a work address, but it's super convenient.
I highly recommend this device as an alternative to a Google Home Mini (especially when the unit goes on sale like Black Friday, etc.). I've since bought three more for friends and they all love it.

I bought the smaller and larger Insignia Bluetooth speakers at the same time for our house. They are our first foray into anything related to a "smart" home. So far we just ask it to play music and some answer some simple questions. The sound quality is adequate for both and better on the larger one. I like the ability to charge a phone that the small one has. It is sometimes frustrating that a request doesn't give the response I wished but I have not tried to experience many of its various capabilities yet. Setting them up individually was generally easy but had trouble trying to get them to work as a pair. The price was definitely right as Deal of the Day.

Purchased as a replacement for a digital alarm clock. Functions well in that capacity, the ability to set an alarm by voice command is much easier and faster than pushing a lot of buttons. Very good sound quality from such a small unit, use it to stream music from my phone via Bluetooth. Contrary to pictures in ads and on the box, the temperature does not display, except when asking the unit about the weather. Unit does not seem to perform all the Google home functions available. For example, when Google home routine is set to give tomorrow's weather, tomorrow's calendar schedule and play night sounds when the unit is told "Good night", the unit only replies "Good night".

Ok, so I don't actually own a Google Mini/Home/Max, nor an Alexa. However, I have enough portable speakers throughout my household to compare the sound quality, and I live in the Android universe, so I feel I can give a qualified review on this product. As far as I know, it's basically a Google Home speaker clone, with the same sound quality for about $30 to $40 bucks cheaper than the name brand.
And if you keep an eye out, you might even get it on sale during certain promotions throughout the year. (Black Friday, etc.)
I originally purchased this on sale when I wasn't even looking for a smart speaker. I was going to use it as a backup present for the holidays. I'm glad I kept it, because I use it daily, and my family really enjoys all the functionality: kitchen timers, games, basic searches, weather each day, etc.

Great deal on these if getting them on sale; tried 1 then got a 2nd for the bedroom for stereo effect. Groups can be set up through google assistant for whole home music. Love the wave to snooze function. Buying several more for Xmas gifts.

Was very surprised to see it at that price point as the deal of the day but I took a chance on it and was very surprised at the sound quality. The speaker is obviously not the one that begins with the letter B, but it comes pretty close too. The setup is spot on and is ready within 7 minutes. You really need to read up on what Google can do in order to get the most of it as the included manual is only a partial read out of what the speaker is capable of. I asked it to play ESPN 1530 on Iheart and she did just that. I asked for other artist radios and she pulled the artist radio from Google Play music. The artist radios are free of charge. If you want individual songs, you will need to subscribe to that. But for what I paid, it is easily worth the price that it is at normal retail and then some. Happy with my purchase.

I am VERY impressed w-the quality of this speaker and the google assistant. I'm biased to amazon's Alexa but the google assistant is VERY impressive and I couldn't resist the price and I needed an alarm clock. I'm glad I purchased it!

I have the google home mini and have heard the original Google home and this sounds much better. It also hears my voice easier and gets much louder. I got mine on sale but it is easily worth $100 compared to the competitors.

We got this clock radio looking Google home speaker for dirt cheap on some sort of sale, I think we paid under 20 bucks for it. It's worth at least three times that much. It's the only Google home speaker I have that has a clock on it. We have it set up in the bathroom. They are the perfect companion for the shower as you can just shout what you want to hear while you're washing up.
A serious warning should be included with this device. If you get this people will be singing in the shower constantly. This speaker is your perfect musical accompaniment.

It was on sale and I was looking for a new alarm clock so I thought for $25 I couldnt go wrong. Once I got it home and updated I played some music thru it and was surprised how great it sounded. I ordered two more right then and there. I have since purchased 5 of the portable ones and 7 more of these. Im going to be giving these as Christmas gifts this year. They're small enough to put almost anywhere and the Google Assistant works great. If you've never used Google Assistant you'll get hooked. She will take notes, answer questions, make phone calls, set alarms for you, reminders to watch TV shows, tell you about up coming appointments you have on your calender, control lights and appliances, and even control my thermostat. All with only my voice. I absolutely love it.

Pro: slightly better sound than a Home Mini; clock display; temperature display when you ask weather questions (surprisingly useful); gesture based volume control is nicely implemented. Con: seems to be a little behind on Assistant features (mine doesn't support chaining multiple commands, which came several months ago on the Mini); seems to be unable to play albums I've uploaded to Google Play Music, where the Mini can (though this feature has been a little flaky there too). Does not make phone calls, if that's a deciding point for you. Frequently goes on sale as low as $25, so keep your eyes open for a deal.

A good digital clock radio

I bought this to replace an older clock radio that had issues receiving radio stations. The fact that this unit had Google Assistant appealed, since I already have some units in the home. The unit was easy to set up and there were no major problems linking it to the network. There are sometimes problems in connecting to the programs that I have set up in the mornings, and there have been "glitches" that result in not being able to connect to those programs. I have read reviews that state that the unit probably needs a firmware update, along with those from Google itself. I am satisfied with the unit.

The sound from this little guy is great. Fairly easy to set up (just like a Google Home or Mini). Setting alarms is pretty intuitive. Only issue I encountered was the range. I know it sounds wierd but My Wifi router is in my living room and while I use other wifi dvices in my bedroom, this had a hard time in that room. When I took it into the living in room close to the router, it worked like a charm. Tested it out in both rooms several times to make sure the first time wasn't a fluke but every setup in the bedroom was difficult and buggy while every time in the living room was a breeze.

This is my first smart speaker and I am loving it. I replaced the radio alarm clock next to my bed as I can now tell Google to wake me up at different time for each morning without have to fuss with setting the alarm manually. It plays all types of music and plays the radio. At night, I play rain sound to help me sleep in addition to getting answers on anything that came to my mind. The sound is great on this speaker as I also use it as a bluetooth speaker to stream my audio music and books. The only downside is that you can't make calls. But I dealt with that by purchading a google mini as my second unit.

If you need an alarm clock and want to have access to Google Assistant, this is the device for you. Works as advertised with better sound than the Home Mini. Two things I don't like about it.... first, even at the lowest brightness the numbers on the display are brighter than I would like. I wish you could turn them off at night. Second, I have not been able to figure out a way to get this device to play the beeping sound that lets you know it has heard you when you say "Ok Google" (the way that the Home and the Mini do). Without that it's tough to know if it has heard you or not.

The Bluetooth speaker looks like a standard alarm clock but it comes with Google Assistant built in for hands-free control. Once connected to your smartphone, the speaker can access a variety of popular online streaming services as well as your own Google Play music library to listen to a wide range of music in multiple rooms at once. And if you have other smart devices in your home, you'll be able to control them as well just by asking Google Assistant to turn off the lights or turn up the thermostat. Its a great addition on the Google Assistant family of speakers, more cheap and with a clock!

I thought this was a good buy on sale. It went far beyond my expectations.
The Google Home integration works great, easy to setup and I believe give me more versatility than the Google Home Mini.
The only drawback I’ve seen is, I can’t really adjust the sound. Meaning the EQ, Bass Boost, Mono, Stereo.
I know it can be tweaked via the music player app, but it would be nice to have universal sound settings.
Maybe it’s in there or Google will add it.
It sounds great!!
But I like to be able to adjust the eq to my preference.
Definitely a good buy.

I got these when they were on sale and they are excellent for the price. I would recommend these over either the Google Home or Mini. The sound is better than the mini, the clock is a nice touch.
Don't buy this thinking it's a clock radio, it's a Google Mini with a clock. I bought one for each of the kid's rooms and i created a playlist and then a kid's bedroom group so music plays on just their clocks.
The only minor negative is the snooze of the alarm, you should be able to wave your hand over the top of the radio but it's spotty. Thankfully I don't use that feature much.
For the sale price, i couldn't be happier and may buy a few more to put around the house as a whole house music system.
