Not as good as the ge brand . My water taste different

It's 13$ cheaper than GE MWF but for 13$ we don't want to put our family's health at risk. Its horrible in terms of output, bad taste and flow is very fast. Not sure what all it filters, should get a lab test done on the water. My kids says water is tasting like sink water and they decline to drink from it. I'm going to return it today itself to BestBuy and will go with GE MWF water filter. Please stay away from this !!

I decided to try this filter, as quite frankly, I was not impressed with the GE filter that came with my 4 month old refrigerator . The water flow and ice cubes were getting abysmally slow. No red light light came on probably because the refrigerator was only 4 months old. I looked into the Insignia model ( Best Buys brand) and decided to go for it. First, I did exactly what the directions said, starting off by submerging the filter after unwrapping it in a deep bowl of water, let the faucet run water to the very top of the bowl. Let it sit for 15 minutes as this clears the carbon air bubble. Then removed old filter, counter clock wise turn pulled down and the inserted new filter in holder and turned clockwise and that was that. Put a large container under water and voila a very strong stream of water, stronger then i had seen from delivery day. Very impressed!!! I forgot to mention this filter was $20.00 cheaper. In this case the more expensive brand name was NOT the best. Or whoever installed it.... factory or delivery men, did not follow the directions !

My fridge had the older GWF GE model filter still, and it was time to finally replace it. Once I finally realized that this was the new, updated version of the same filter, I decided to try this one instead of the GE model (money is money, and this was a lot cheaper!). Installation was easier than I was expecting. The water flow was significantly faster and better than the GE one, which means that I don't have to wait for five minutes to fill a glass of water; nice change! The water tastes better than the now defunct GE filter, and comes out clear. I've got no complaints. Not sure about the other reviews that claim that it's a bad filter. Mine is great.

I was a little leery to try these over OEM filters but must say that I am very pleased with them. They install in the same manner and make a good seal. The filtration from a taste standpoint seems to be equivalent to the OEM version and for half the price. I will continue to purchase these.

Product did not fit refrigerator. Had to return it.

I had no problems. This filter was easy to install and didn't leak a bit. Ironically, my GE Profile Frig doesn't do well with the expensive GE OEM filter; I've tried several times and always had the frustrating trickle of water that many report. **Important To Remember** Save your O-Ring from current filter; It is NOT included with this filter and it absolutely necessary. Any filter regardless of price will leak without an O-Ring. -1 star for not helping with H2O taste..however no filter thus far has really helped with the off taste

These replacement filters are easier to install and priced lower than manufactures brand.

Works well, easy to install with good water flow. Saved 30 dollars compared to GE brand.

I think it is great that Best Buy makes their own filter under the Insignia brand. There is no need to pay more for the manufacturer's brand for the exact same product. Good job Best Buy!

Easy to install and great value for the price. Better than the name brand.

The water is filtered just as well at the GE branded one and lasts just as long at a better price. No brainer there.

Since I've had my GE fridge, I've purchased the GE brand water filter when it was time for replacement. Six or so months ago, I noticed the Insignia brand filter designed for GE fridges was substantially cheaper, so I bought one and installed it. Now, It's time to replace it, so I bought another Insignia filter. When I got home, I was unable to remove the old one. Now, I appear to be stuck with the choice of dirty water or buying a new refrigerator. Anyone else have this problem?

I really wanted this to work! I followed all the instructions, and that horrible light is still on. I checked with GE and they say it’s because the refrigerator can tell it’s not original.
