Ive had this speaker for about 3-4 weeks now. Ive tested it in different rooms, in cars, at work and outside. Ive tested it on high volume and low, and tested it with songs that had lots of bass to none.I also got this speaker on a good sale. I bought four of them and tested them all with different devices. Pros: Its a nice little speaker that fits practically everywhere. Put it on shelves or on the floor, in small corners or in a pile of laundry, it'll more then likely fit. The range is crazy good, i went from the basement of my home to the attic and it could still connect via Bluetooth. The volume goes fairly high and low. I could still hear it from the attic. Its very light and simple. Hardly any work is needed with it in terms of connecting and turning it on. The battery life seems to last longer then specified and charges fast. As far as ive tested, the mic works as well as my phone and friends/family can still hear me fine. Its got an aux cable and the cable it comes with is easy to use. Great if you want to go swimming or to the park. Thin and sleek. It can get very loud. Even better if you put on makeup or take showers and want to hear some music in the bathroom. Cons: The speaker almost sounds like it has no bass, so for anyone who likes the rumbles in your tum, this wont be for you. Something that drives me crazy is connecting the Bluetooth to a device with this speaker. If you connect it, no matter what device it is, the volume is never correct. For example: I turn the speaker on and my phone on and connect the two. I have a set volume on my phone and ill start playing music on it. The speaker however, turns it 50% louder and then goes down, then up, then down. When you try adjusting it on the phone, or any device, it goes up and down randomly without warning until it finally settles. (ive tested this on different devices and different speakers.) SO be careful if your trying to be quiet about it, your secret song you like might end up being played really loud. Speaking of the Bluetooth feature, if you connect more then one device previously, say i connected my iPad through its Bluetooth, but then disconnected it at some point and connected my phone instead and then turned it off for the night, the next time I turned the speaker on, ( if both devices are in the speakers range,) it'll connected to the first one paired as soon as it turns on and without warning it'll start playing music really loud. So then you have to get the first device and disconnect the Bluetooth again, then connect the one you want to use. Its such a hassle I almost feel the need to toss it sometimes, especially if im in a bad mood, hah. The cords not very long to charge it with. It has a hard time playing loud songs depending on the song. Extra: Its about the size of a soda can and a half of one. Or a toothbrush. I got a picture with one of them. The holes easily get dust in them. YOU CANNOT connect two at a time. I saw in the comments you could, but you cant. The black color is deep black, kinda hard to see the buttons, so if you have bad eyesight, the buttons are on the top, indented into the speaker. But the black will match with any color. It IS NOT waterproof. Those that say it is, are probably meaning another speaker.

I've had a variety of Bluetooth speakers over the years, including several different Insignia brand models. My personal favorite of all my Bluetooth speakers is my Insignia Brick 2's. I figured I would checkout the Insignia Wave 2 to see if it was just a less expensive version of the Brick 2. I knew it didn't have the same rugged/waterproof design as the Brick 2, and I also knew it didn't have the same battery life as the Brick 2. I was hoping it had the same internal speakers as the Brick 2. It doesn't. The sound quality of the Wave 2 is good and ultimately serviceable for listening to music and other purposes (I use one as a "soundbar" connected via the 3.5mm jack to a small tv on my nightstand). There's not a lot of bass, and the sound overall isn't as full to me as other Bluetooth speakers in the Wave 2's regular price price range. Here's the catch though, the sale price makes the Wave 2 well worth purchasing because it then outperforms many other Bluetooth speakers whose regular price is in the Wave 2's sale price price range. One of the other benefits of Insignia products, is that Best Buy honors the one-year manufacturer's warranty in-store since Insignia is Best Buy's store brand. That's a huge bonus to me. Overall the Wave 2 is a good speaker for the sale price. I'll continue to use the Wave 2 because I got them (bought 2) for such a good price, but I won't consider the Wave 2's to be my best or go-to Bluetooth speakers for anything other than personal use at home or in the office (i.e. I would use my Brick 2 or one of my other Bluetooth speakers for playing audio for others or away from home or the office). I would consider buying the Wave 2 again on sale and giving them out as gifts. One minor annoyance is that the flashing blue/red light on the Wave 2 is on the front of the speaker. I covered this up with a small piece of electrical tape to block the flashing light out because the flashing is a huge distraction when using it as the soundbar when watching tv. I do like the location placement of the 4 buttons on the Wave 2 compared to the Brick 2 because the Wave 2's buttons are easier to access being that they're on the side of the speaker compared to being on the back of the Brick 2. Hope this helps. Thanks. Matthew 7:12

Bought this in New Year Day at a sales price $9.99. Used my $5 point then paid only $4.99. (Regular now $39.99 )At first, I was considering a $59.00 one {regular $149.99) with Google [whatever]. However, after some review, if you are not a profess Google [whatever] user and your house has lightbulbs that works with it by, "Hey, Google, light on!" then you are buying something new that you probably will never use or will tempt you in buying a lot of new tech that you probably will end up with, "do I need these ?" After connecting it with Bluetooth with my 10" tablet, wow, the sound is fantastic. So far, I had not yet experienced "no batt" incidence. It said it has 12 hours. I can take it around my apartment from room to room and it continues playing from the tablet at where it is at.. I even take it into the bathroom and even showering, of course not into the tub but somewhere in the bathroom as far away from the shower head as possible. So, if you just want good sounds and simple BT, this is a no beat one. I was about to buy a second one, because I had another $5.00 point, but opps, it is back to $39.99. So I will wait... I haven't try the aux input with a cable yet, but I don't think I will; why bother when BT is so good.

    Bad latency issues with videos

As I have only owned this speaker a couple of days I cannot comment on durability. It's a fine little speaker for dirt cheap as long as it is used indoors in a quiet room for background music. However, when watching videos on my iPad via Bluetooth it gets badly out of sync within a minute or so. I have used a number of cheapo Bluetooth speakers but this one is has the worst latency of them all. I have not tried it yet with a wired connection, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a Bluetooth speaker doesn't it? There a number of complaints in the reviews about it not being loud enough. Given the size of the speakers I think that it puts out sufficient volume for what it is—a cheapo, little speaker. Do not expect mega bass from a 2" speaker!!! BTW set up was dead simple—turn it on and let your mobile device connect to it. I had more difficulty opening the box than setting up the speaker. It has a small power/connection indicator light; small volume, power and phone buttons on the side; and 2 small rubber "feet" to keep it from rolling off the table. For $10 who's gonna quibble? It works, and it sounds OK—as long as I am not watching videos.

Bluetooth speakers have a huge range of features and prices. I've got over 1k in different speakers because I love my beats. When I seen this one on sale for $10 I decided to buy it just for the heck of it and I didn't have one. I had absolutely no expectations of it being a decent product. Unboxed it and connected to my phone very easy as it should. Put some music on my phone and turned it up one click at a time. I was very surprised at the clarity of the words and drum beats. Even at max volume it was still clear. Now if you're wanting top notch quality (actually the quality of material and build seems to be better than a lot of the higher priced speakers) and sound then you're going to have to dig deeper into your pockets but if you want something that will get the job done and cheaply get it done then don't look any further. Called the wife to check out the microphone and sound and she heard me perfectly. I could hear her very loud and clear. Can't go wrong for the price.

I know I didn't pay much for this, but based on reviews I expected better. I purchased this to use as a bluetooth speaker in my office. It's a nice looking speaker and fits an office decorum well. First day I had to plug it in to charge it up. HInt: use a wall charger - the one that came with it is a usb charger and it is very short. Otherwise will be waiting longer. Once charged, it paired easily with my phone. For convenience I then plugged it into my laptop docking station while I used the bluetooth to play from my phone to it. Leave for the day, next morning expect to just start streaming from my phone, but speaker needs charged up? Did I leave it on? I don't know, so same routine, except when I went home I powered off the speaker. Next day, has to be charged up again. Ok, so I didn't have it plugged in to the wall charger overnight - but it was off and had battery power when I shut it off. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but today is third straight morning and I have to charge it up before using it. Not useless - but very annoying. Will be looking for a speaker now that doesn't depend on battery. Sounds good for what I need.

I bought this to have a speaker to use in my motorhome at campgrounds. There are a number of speakers available for a LOT more money that are louder and have better bass - but - this one is perfect for my needs. I didn't want anything overly bassy or that was super loud. After using this over the last 3 weeks on a long trip, it is great. I've never run out of volume and the battery has never run down even after several hours of use. For the $20 I paid, this was a bargain. At $50, it would still be a bargain! If you want a concert hall, look elsewhere. If you want to enjoy a glass of whiskey and a cigar with nice music, this may be just what you need!

I've paired this with a Kindle Fire and have an Insignia Brick for comparison. The sound on this is clear and much brighter (*see below) than the Brick which tends towards the bassy side. I would like it except for a number of flaws. 1. I use the Kindle to mostly watch videos. The Wave2 sound is just enough out of sync to be irritating. The Brick is spot on. 2. That wouldn't be a problem for songs only. However, the Wave has a buzz that is not present when listening with the Brick or just the Kindle's own speakers. 3. The Wave dies only a few hours after being unplugged and then has to be recharged. The Brick lasts for days but it does have a bigger battery and is substantially heavier.

I'm not rating a speaker based on the fact it was on sale for 9.99. I'm rating it based on the fact it's normally $40. And for $40 this speaker isn't worth it unless it's for a child or for the purpose of playing flute music or something unimportant. First song I decided to play to test out the sound was Pentatonix Deck the Halls. They're an a cappella group, but their bass is always amazing. The volume couldn't go past the halfway mark without sounding terrible and the bass wasn't there at all. I didn't buy this to host parties or anything, I just like to fill my house with music for myself sometimes and I'm going to just stick with my smart TV. Also it's not additional volume; it's using the volume on your connected device. I didn't see anyone mention that before. So once my iphone was at the max, that was it; although as I stated you don't even want the speaker volume that high up depending on the type of music you're listening to.

At the sale price I got it for of $10, this is an amazing deal and easily 5 stars. At the normal price, it's still offers good performance for the price. Bass is decent, a bit less than a comparably sized JBL speaker. Sound quality is OK with a similar sound signature to JBL's BT speakers. Sony's BT speakers sound better than this and JBLs. It does get quite loud without much noticable breakup at max volume and can fill a large room at good volume. It can stand up or lay on its side on some rubber feet. It sounds better laid down. Standing it up sacrifices noticable sound quality. For $10, it's an amazing deal. At a discounted price of $25-$30, it's still worth considering. At normal price, it offers decent cost to performance ratio, but you may want to start looking at a comparable or even slightly smaller Sony.

It pairs quick and easy and it sounds ok at low volume. Once you get past 50% volume it really sounds like the speaker is ruined and it is not even loud enough for the average user. Would only recommend for someone using it in a quiet environment at moderate volume. Sound quality is ok, definately not the best, I have heard bluetooth speakers of different brands and I can tell right away which one is good or not for the price. If you need a bluetooth speaker to blast the volume and that its loud enough then get something else that is more powerfull and better sound quality. It didnt work for me in my case, I was expecting better sound, but it may work for others.

Really happy with this wireless speaker and especially with the price. I waited until it went on sale, as I was reviewing wireless speakers and saw how many thought this was a good deal. Being skeptical, still wasn't sure but thought the price was good enough to merit the purchase. I love this speaker. Easy to set up, and the sound is just what I wanted. I have found it is best if you use it in a smaller room, and put it in a corner. The sound can reverberate off the walls. Often one doesn't expect much from a small wireless speaker, but this far exceeds expectations for me.

I am so glad I bought two of these Insignia Wave 2 Bluetooth Speakers. I've used them in so many different ways, with my iPhone to listen to audiobooks, with my laptop, for listening to text to speech documents. But most of all I have connected both of them for stereo sound to my portable DVD player. You can only do this when the speakers are used with 2 (male to male) cables and then connected to an audio source that has two audio ports. The only thing that would make them better, would be if you could pair 2 of them on the Bluetooth mode, but I'm not going to complain, for the price I paid, I am very happy with my purchase.

I bought two of these for Christmas gifts. I always give my brother his early, as he's elderly, and I want to see him with the gifts I give him. The other is for my wife. I got an outstanding deal on them in the pre-Christmas sales. I charged it up while visiting him and linked it to his phone. He loves it. The sound is a little flat, but the speaker is well worth the retail, much less what I paid. Bluetooth setup was easy. It's about the size of a 16 ounce beer can, perfect for sticking in a car drink holder. I have a similar speaker that I hook into a Samsung 7" tablet that I use as a GPS unit. That way, I can hook my phone into the car's Bluetooth system and still hear turn direction when traveling. I'm well pleased with the purchase, and so is he.

After purchasing a $35 bluetooth speaker that didn't work well, I decided to purchase this one and I'm not disappointed. This Insignia™ - Portable Bluetooth Speaker delivers. I turned it on after chargin it and it's been a pleasure to listen to music again. It's loud enough for those of you that enjoy loud music, but it's not so loud you can't tolerate it. It maintains well at loud volumes with the just the right amount of bass and treble. I'm thinking of getting another one and I'd definitely tell a friend not to hesitate a purchase :-)

Overall, this speaker is really good. The sound is excellent for a speaker in this price range (don't expect it to rival speakers that are $100 plus). With music, it performs perfectly. The only problem is we got it to pair with our Apple TV to watch movies and have a speaker by our bed at night so that we didn't need the TV blasting to hear it. But there is a latency and so the movie and sound are off sync most of the time. Sometimes it is just a little and sometimes it is a full two words off. I would buy it again at the price we got it for since higher priced bluetooth speakers all have reviews that complain about latency, but I wish this wasn't such a problem with the bluetooth speakers.

Maybe I bought a dud, but this thing was repackaged ready for return within minutes. Paired up very quickly and easily to my phone's bluetooth. Played part of a song using Jet Music player. Sounded void of any depth. Switched to Amazon Music, same poor sound. These were streaming without any equalization from the source. i am comparing to my smaller Sony 33 and a few others. Ten bucks is not a lot of money, but I'd rather spend a bit more and get something worthy, or nothing at all. Sorry folks.

I bought a blue and a red one of these. Both work just fine; the sound is nice and clear from at least 15 feet away, volume is loud enough to hear in my son's bedroom (and, down the hall). It connects easily via Bluetooth. I wish there was a better way to tell the charge level. The bass is not all that great (of course, this is a small, inexpensive speaker; I realize that). It does have adequate bass for a kid's room or small, enclosed space. It can stand on end or flat, which it nice. Overall, a good purchase. I would recommend this over any that I tested in its price range.

It's clearly a good speaker to start with, particularly for the price we got it for on Cyber Monday. It's built well and it's sturdy and looks stylish, however the sound quality is not the best when it starts to get up to 60% of the volume or more, however you can still quite enjoy the sound if your audio is HD. Where it starts to get very muffled and distorted is right around 80% of its volume power. Considering it's a personal speaker and not for a whole room use, it's great, since there is no need to blast the sound, but it's not the best option to fill up a room with an crisp clear sound.

This is a very good speaker for the price I paid ($10). It has stereo sound with 2 main speakers and 1 passive radiator for bass. If you compare this to a $150 JBL, hands down this will fail. But with all the $10 to $30 speakers out there, this will sound really good. If you wonder about the battery life, it is pretty good. It's been 2 weeks since I got it. Still has a halfway charge. However, if you can spend a little more money, Sony XB31 would be a better choice.
