Customers are saying
Customers are impressed with the Duo Nova 8-Quart 7-in-1 Multi-Cooker's ease of use, citing its simple programming and intuitive operation. However, some customers noted that cooking times may be longer than expected, and the appliance's size might be unsuitable for smaller households. A few found the size to be a bit large for their needs. Overall, the positive feedback on ease of use outweighs the concerns about cooking time and size.

Better than grandma's...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think my grandmother would say, “I told you so!” She loved to cook using her old cast aluminum pressure cooker — and we loved the meals she prepared. She knew that meat and vegetables came out so tender and infused with flavor, and meals were prepared rather quickly. Well, that’s what you get with the Instant Pot - Duo Nova 8-Quart 7-in-1 — except it’s even faster, easier to use, and so, so, SO much safer! On top of all this, all of the parts, including the main stainless steel removable insert, are dishwasher safe. That’s not something you’d want to subject the old cast aluminum to. Speaking of safety — this model now has an integrated push-button release for the pressurized steam. This is a fantastic update from previous models where you actually took hold of the pressure-release-thingy, lifted, and turned, while Old Faithful blew its top — hopefully not scalding any fingers or your hand while doing so. Now it’s a safe push of a button. Good job Instant Pot! I advise you to have some fun scouring online for videos, recipes and tips for things you never thought you could use your Instant Pot for. This thing really is amazing. There’s a bit of a learning curve with all the controls, but, hey! — you’re young! You’ll be fine. I’m old and I’ve done it and love it. By the way, this model came with an extra gasket. Someone earlier mentioned that some savory meals seemed to impregnate the gasket with the aroma of the ingredients. I haven’t found this to be so, but you could use one gasket for savory, and the other gasket for things like yogurts, rice or oatmeal. They are different colors so that would be easy to do. Have fun with this! Now get out there and cook!

I can't get over how easy it is to cook BIG food.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is a life changer. One product that can cook hard-boiled eggs, cheesecake, lasagna, Corned beef and Pork shoulder. I live alone and never cook "big" food like pot roast and corned beef or brisket. In fact, I rarely cooked anything, that took more than an hour. Enter the Instant Pot - Duo Nova 8-Quart 7-in-1. Wow! What a game changer. It's actually EASY to cook big hearty meals now. It arrived in an enormous box and my first thought was OMG where am I going to put this thing? After a bit of rearranging, I gave it a home right next to my microwave. I have a TINY kitchen and I still found a way to make it fit. You can too. Trust me, it's worth it. To be fair, there are smaller options available but, I intentionally went for the biggest Instant Pot I could get because I wanted to make enough for multiple meals with each dish. It worked out perfectly and now when I make a meal I have enough for at least 2 lunches (no more wasting money eating crappy take-out at work) and 2 dinners. This 7 in 1 model is also a pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, saute pan, food warmer, and yogurt maker. The lid seals automatically and gives you a beep so you know it's properly sealed. When releasing steam pressure you can easily just press a button and the steam will release up and slightly towards the back of the pot. The steam pressure can also be allowed to dissipate naturally over 15-20 minutes. The pot comes with a steamer rack and an extra sealing ring for the lid. I understand, some people switch rings for baking. I look forward to trying that out. The cooking pot is stainless steel and easy to clean. It's dishwasher safe too. The first meal I made was corned beef and potatoes with carrots. It was so easy and soooo frigging good! I can't get over how easy it is. Next up; Spanish Pork Shoulder (Pernil) YUM I can't wait. Don't forget to get the free Instant Pot Recipes phone app (available for iOS and Android) with 1000+ recipes. One important thing to remember is to add about 30 minutes of time to any recipe. The pot needs time to get up to full pressure and then time to release pressure when done. But even with this added 20-30 minutes, you'll still be cooking brisket in under 2 hours. I now understand why a coworker always raved about the instant pot. I highly recommend this product.

Cooking revolution
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Instant Pot - Duo Nova 8-Quart 7-in-1, One-Touch Multi-Cooker is so wonderful for making stews and soups! It is a cooking revolution! It is really easy to use. If you have used a pressure cooker before then it doesn't require instructions (but I do recommend you read the instruction manual before first use) We use the pressure cooker for meats and hard vegetables first and then add the leafy vegetables at the end. The meat comes out falling off the beef ribs. Instant Pot brand is a game changer in cooking. We use ours regularly and 8 quarts is a nice size for a family. I do like the stainless steel pot of this Instant pot, over the non stick one. Because all nonstick surfaces eventually chip and flake. Cleaning is a breeze, just make sure your remove and clean the silicon seal after each use. They also provide an additional red seal for sweet dishes, which is nice. Presets are nice to use if it's your first time. It's a solid and well built machine. It will last a long time. You can't go wrong with the original Instant Pot Brand. Not only would I recommend this to a friend, I would recommend it to everyone.

Such a great addition to my kitchen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start my saying I LOVE THIS THING!! So far, I have cooked a roast which instead of taking all day in my crock pot, it was done and on the table in less than 30 mins. It was so juicy and the potatoes and carrots were so soft and delicious. I was very hesitant to use this unit at first because I’ve never used a pressure cooker before. But using the slow cook quick button, the roast was perfect! I like the fact the it has a delay start button also. I’m able to throw everything in the pot and set it to go about 30 minutes before I get home and it hasn’t failed me yet. I typically review items after one or two uses but I wanted to wait for this one. I have never been able to cook rice without a struggle. This cooker made my rice in 12 minutes and it was absolutely perfect for our taco night. Afterwards, it was so easy to clean up, I was shocked because I always have rice stuck on my pans. You will not be disappointed with this. The size is great for our family of 5 and we have leftovers!

Now I Know Why My Daughter Likes It
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife is a full time health care provider with a long commute which makes for a very long day. On top of that, she normally shoulders the burden of cooking dinner every night and makes sure our family has an excellent and healthy dinner. As her husband, I try my best to balance the overall work load and do other household related tasks, including laundry, grocery runs, etc., but I am not what you could call a cook. However, I am a chemist that knows how to follow procedures and protocols – so how hard can this cooking thing be? And I like nice tools that can make a task easier. Last Christmas we gave our adult daughter an Instant Pot for Christmas. It was something she had asked for and she is an excellent cook. Not sure how she got to be so proficient in the kitchen but the meals she makes for her family are fabulous. That said, I decided if she likes this product, it might be worth giving it a try – it helps my wife, it seems like a neat tool, and I like to eat good food. All I knew or thought I knew about the Instant Pot was that it seemed to be a cross between a pressure cooker and a crock pot. A very short YouTube video showed me the basics, although I did take a look at the enclosed instructions as well. Up to this point the only thing I knew about “pressure cookers” came from long ago childhood memories of my grandmother and mother using this beast of a pot with serious bolts clamping down the lid of this thick walled vessel with an ominous pressure gauge on top and a vent on the top that they told me to stay away from. They used it to can vegetables and other stuff that was stored in canning jars that resided in the basement for many years with a date taped to the jar. Sometimes the stuff inside would change color and that was not a good thing. Yeah – a lot of that stuff was stewed tomatoes and string beans I think. Anyway, as an adult today, I prefer factory sealed cans, or frozen vegetables. I assume all that home canned stuff made us stronger since it did not kill us. Unpacking I received what appeared to be an outer box covering the actual product box inside. The outer box was clearly labeled “this side up” and “fragile”. As it turned out the outer box actually only covered 5 sides of the inner box, and in fact the inner box was another 5 sided cover – in the reverse orientation – also labeled “this side up” – of course directly opposite of what the other box indicated. Inside of that second layer of box was the actual product box. The actual product box – if one followed the directions on the outside box – was in fact shipped upside down the entire delivery. Once inside the actual product box, everything seemed to be fine. And all components were included. Initial Product Preparations Prior to Use Prior to use the manual directs the user to perform an initial test run using 3 cups of water. I am assuming this ensures the unit is working properly, as well as introducing the user to the basic operation of the Instant Pot. The manual also directs the user to remove and clean the sealing ring, float valve and silicone cap which secures the valve, the anti-block shield (which prevents any food particles from escaping during the steam venting), and the condensate collector. The ring, float valve, and condensate collector can be removed and installed easily but the anti-block shield is a bit more difficult to remove. I wonder how many users actually take the time to remove and clean the individual components rather than just cleaning the top of the pot with everything already installed. Being detail oriented (and perhaps with a little OCD) I feel compelled to follow the recommended procedure. Just be careful not to misplace the float valve and tiny silicone cap which secures the float valve in the lid. Ready to Go! Anxious to get started – and having promised my wife that I had everything in order for dinner that night, I pulled in an expert, my daughter, for advice. I could have taken a simple route for the maiden voyage and just cooked rice, but she suggested one of her favorites, “Instant Pot Cheesy Broccoli Chicken and Rice”. Maybe it was a function of a well written recipe, or the ease of using the Instant Pot, but the end product was excellent, getting positive reviews from both my wife and son (who can be a bit fussy at times). The use of the control panel was pretty intuitive and I am confident that my overall turnaround time will improve with a little practice and familiarity. One thing I did learn from the YouTube video that I don’t recall seeing in the manual is the slot in the side handle of the Instant Pot base. This slot is used to hold the top perpendicular to the base when removing to add or remove contents from the pot and avoids the need and space required to set the top down on the countertop. It will also allow the top to be put there after cleaning so that all parts can dry thoroughly before reassembling.

Super-Versatile Kitchen Appliance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I finally own an Instant Pot. I have many family and friends that already have an Instant Pot. My wife and I often hear them talk about how great they are, and now I can see why. Everything that we have made in it has come out so good. In the short time that we have had it, we have made tortilla soup and beef short ribs, following recipes that we were able to find on the internet. They both came out amazing. The tastes were so flavorful and they were so easy and fast to make using the Instant Pot. The Instant Pot Duo Nova is easy to use. It has a simplistic control panel with a large LCD screen that lets you know what is going on inside the pot throughout the cooking process. There are also lots of smart program buttons that allow you to sauté in it and cook a wide range of dishes. The inner pot is stainless steel and can be removed for easy cleaning in the dishwasher or sink. The 8-quart Instant Pot is fairly large and will take up a fair amount of counter space, but the sacrifice of countertop space is a good trade-off for the versatility that it will bring to your kitchen. You can have delicious dinners ready in 15 to 30 minutes from start to finish. There are hundreds of Instant Pot recipes and cookbooks out there, and we are looking forward to making many more dishes in the Instant Pot. The Instant Pot Duo Nova 8-Quart 7-in-1, One-Touch Multi-Cooker is a useful, super-versatile kitchen appliance and I would recommend it.

My absolute favorite small kitchen appliance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the myriad of available and helpful kitchen appliances, none stands mightier than the simply amazing Instant Pot. We eat healthy. The entire family. We cook 99% of our meals at home and consider ourselves “health conscious.” Finding the right appliances to make our lives easier is always welcome. The Instant Pot has taken home food prep to the next level. With the Instant Pot, you can make SO MANY different things that I consider it the Swiss Army Knife of our kitchen. From sauteing and steaming, to perfect rice, soups, and even yogurt, you will find yourself using it almost daily. We cook perfect sushi rice for our own sushi rolls quite a bit. We also like to make vegan goulash, where you combine rice, veggies, vegetable broth, and spices together for a delicious and hearty meal that you can eat for days. Same goes with soups, chili, you name it. There is even an app that has tons of great recipes, as well as helpful time tables for cooking different items. The Instant Pot is extremely easy to use and very self explanatory. There are single touch custom buttons for different types of foods and styles of cooking, making it really as simple as loading the stainless steel inner pot with your yummy food, closing the lid, and pressing one button. If you want to set a custom pressure level and time, it is also very easy to do. So easy, that you shouldn’t even need to read the manual. The design is perfect for what it is. Everything feels solid and very well made. I would expect that this will last a very long time. It is also a huge time saver. It not only cooks things faster than most other small appliances, it includes a delay start button. I use this when I want to soak beans or rice overnight and have it ready when the alarm goes off. Big bonus! All in all, I can’t say enough good things about the Instant Pot. It is a kitchen game changer. Do yourself a favor and GET ONE NOW!

Great pressure cooker. Just pay attention to time.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been seeing these heavily pushed by everyone during the past few holiday seasons, and have been really tempted to try one to see what all the fuss is about. Got this the other day and have used it for several meals. Like a microwave, it has several food labeled buttons like “soups” and “porridge” as well as custom settings for the do-it-yourselfers. I used it a few times, including for a rice meal and also for a slow cooked-style beef roast. Did really well. My daughter has the 3qt version and loves it, so I figured I’d give this a try. Takes a little getting used to. Many recipes have headings like “perfect roast in X minutes,” but then you find out it’s actually cooking time under pressure, so you have to add several minutes to the time. Similarly, some things need to have the pressure released and removed from heat immediately, others you let them naturally simmer and continue cooking. It gets a little confusing at times. I’m sure once I do a few more meals, I’ll get the hang of it. Overall it’s a great system, I just was hoping for a “pressure cooker for dummies” but even this simple system required me to read a small novel of instructions, do’s and don’ts, It requires a ton of cleaning prep between meals. It’s definitely more work than a set it-and-forget-it product store advertising led me to believe. If you are ok with that, this will be a great go-to asset for Sunday dinners, chili cook-offs, and dozens of other meals.

Love My Instant Pot!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Instant Pot - Duo Nova 8-Quart 7-in-1, One-Touch Multi-Cooker is amazing. I have another brand 6 quart pressure cooker and absolutely love it. I have been wanting a larger size to enable me to make double batches of recipes like Spaghetti and Ribs to have left overs. We are a family of 4, with two sons who are 12 & 15...they eat a lot! In comparison to my other pressure cooker, the 8 quart allowed me to double my Spaghetti recipe easily with plenty of room. I also noticed it seems to get to pressure quicker than my other one. I especially like pressing the button down to release the pressure on the Instant Pot in contrast with the other brand that you turn. I did have to get used to way it starts though. My other one shows on display that it is starting while the Instant Pot has a delay and I couldn't tell it was doing anything until after a little bit. But besides that, I really like the larger size. I have made Indian Lentils, Spaghetti, Ribs and a few other recipes so far without issue. It cleans up easily and the multi-functions are great. I have yet to steam with it, but I'm sure it will work just as well as the other features. Overall, if you are trying to decide between the 6 or 8 quart pressure cooker, I would go with the 8. Especially if you have two hungry teenagers to fed!

Good for Large Gatherings
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We already have instant pot duo 7 in 1 since long. we like instant pot. What I liked most in this Nova version is quick release button, my present one do not have this option, this really saves time when needed. This is little heavy, good for group gatherings, this cooks food fast and accurate for more people which is another thing i liked about this product. Comes in nice pack and with all necessary guides/instructions including safety standards. it is not hard to follow and adopt. Tried multiple items all worked perfectly fine, zero issues. We cooked famous biryani dish in this, came out really nice. Lamb and other non veg items cooked so nicely. This one is must to have in home for sure, even though it is heavy that's ok it helps a lot if we want to cook food for more people in less time. Quick pressure release button is deal breaker for me :). Go for it, you will enjoy for sure. there are number of recipe's available to try.

Improved Safety in Pressure Relief Vent
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Instant Pots are electric pressure cookers that help you cut down on cooking time for items that typically need hours to properly cook. A lot of care seems to go into the design of Instant Pots, in general, as they have multiple safety features. We bought our first Instant Pot in 2016. It was an IP-DUO60 (6 Quart). Later that year, we acquired a second instant pot when I found out that a second Instant Pot would only be a few dollars more than the extra pot insert we desired. We use one of our 6 quart instant pots for making oatmeal 3 times a week. We'll measure out our oatmeal (steel cut oats) and water the night before and set up our Instant Pot for a delayed start and by the time we wake up, we have oatmeal ready for us. The other instant pot we use for more pungent foods because no matter how much we wash it, the silicone ring still retains a faint odor. With our family of 5, the 6 quart Instant Pot is just barely large enough. We like to cook so that we have leftovers for the following day, and the 6 quart isn't large enough to do that. On multiple occasions, we've had both of our 6 quart Instant Pots running. When I had a chance to pick up an 8 quart Instant Pot, my wife was excited. Our 6 quart Instant Pots are early model and design of the venting valve has two substantial drawbacks. The first drawback is the close proximity of the steam release to your hand. To operate the valve, you need to twist the valve carefully so you don't expose your hand to a steam burn. My wife usually uses an oven mitt or triggers the valve with a wooden spoon. The secondary concern is that you have to manually seal the valve before cooking each meal. There have been multiple instances where we failed to have dinner ready because we forgot to set the valve to the 'sealing' function before pressing start and walking away. This 8 quart instant pot addresses both of these concerns. The venting function is now controlled by a button/plunger that is offset from the stem release. This reduces potential for steam burns on your hand as you release the pressure. In addition, the plunger resets automatically so it eliminates the potential of forgetting to seal the pot before cooking. The auto sealing function will greatly reduce the number of meal failures in our household! The digital display is improved from the 6 quart as well. Instead of just red numbers, you get a cool blue display that shows numbers, but also has icons to indicate heating up, pressure cooking and several different modes. We also highly appreciate the inclusion of a second silicone ring with this 8 quart kit. The second ring is even colored red to differentiate it from the included translucent ring. This makes having a designated "Savory" and "Sweet" ring much easier to maintain! While there are many cooking programs built into the Instant Pot, such as Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, etc., we tend to cook things manually. We can easily find recipes that are catered for manual cooking that come with its own lingo like 'NPR' for Natural Pressure Release and 'QR' for Quick Release. If you have never used an instant pot, be aware there is a bit of a learning curve. It is likely you will need to spend some time researching recipes tailored for instant pot use or experimenting with modifying your family's favorites for pressure cooking. But once you find the recipe that works for you, it's super consistent. One of the things we've noted on this new Duo Nova 8 Qt is that the inner pot no longer has graduated cup markings. It just has a 1/2 and full pressure cooking markings. My wife is not a fan of this change as it now requires her to use a separate measuring device for several recipes. So far, in the Duo Nova 8 Quart Instant Pot, we've made Brown Rice, Steel Cut Oats, and made a Kale and Sausage soup. They've all been fantastic and comparable to the results of our 6 qt Instant Pot. I hope to try out a beef stew and chili as we head into the winter months.

Wonderful Multi-Cooker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've always had a pressure cooker in my home, which admittedly went mostly unused. I really love this multifunctional pressure product. It is a slow cooker, warmer, yogurt maker, a pressure cooker, rice cooker, and a steamer rolled into one appliance. The first thing that I tried was cooking brown rice. In my household, making brown rice was always a difficult task as it never seemed to come out fully cooked. Each and every time I cooked brown rice, I found myself with undercooked rice. Enter the Instapot! Perfect results were achieved both with white or brown rice. No more guesswork, just amazing results. I also cooked a hungarian goulash (better known as beef stew). Super tender beef, nicely cooked veggies and flavorful juices. Pure heaven if you like this kind of dish. I especially enjoyed the warming feature especially if I cooked a meal ahead to time and wasn't quite ready to serve the dish. You now have the capability to keep food warm and serve your dish at a later time. This is a versatile product and fairly easy to learn to use. The product seems very well made, cooks fast and has an spare gasket. I felt completely safe while this product was in use, as its construction is SOLID. It looks great in my kitchen! You can also download a recipe app. This pressure cooker is high on my recommended list and if you're in the market for a new one, look no further. You'll be happy with this product!

Wow! Awesome for cooking at home
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! That is how I would describe this little unit. We have been bad about eating take out almost every day due to the time it takes to cook, etc. With two young children it can make things even more difficult when it takes a long time to cook. Enter this pressure cooker - it cooks things like pot roasts in about 35 minutes, burgers in about 15 minutes, and a ton of other things! It has made it way easier for my wife and I to cook dinner and not have to wait forever for the oven or slow cooker to make our food. Highly recommended!
