Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.10th Generation Comet Lake CPUs are now imminent, and with it a new socket, LGA 1200 that will not be backwards compatible with 9th generation CPUs like the i7-9700K. AMD has been much better about keeping their CPU's compatible with their supporting motherboards by minimizing disruptive socket changes despite frequent CPU updates. If you are in the market for a new CPU, I would wait until the Comet Lake CPUs become widely available along with the supporting motherboards. Then weigh the advantages and drawbacks of Intel and AMD. If you play mostly older games, as I do, it's not that large an issue ATM, but once the next generation consoles arrive for the 2020 Xmas shopping season, the picture may change significantly. I'll conditionally recommend this CPU, but after the Comet Lake 10th generation arrive the point is moot.

Good option when on sale

I can play games at a decent Frame rate while still doing cpu intensive tasks. It handles thermals well but it may be because of a aftermarket cooler and not the one they give you.
