Best little entertainment center I have ever bought

Purchased this for our small wedding! Works perfectly! We now use it for camping! Holds the battery well and it’s meant for outdoors! It gets really loud (we don’t usually use it lid though because…. You know, there are others trying to camp around us… but we could have a party if we wanted to!)

Review for  ION Audio - Sport XL 8" 2-Way Tailgate Portable PA Speaker - Black This outdoor-friendly music machine is perfect for get togethers, both large and small. It comes with a microphone for announcements or for singing karaoke. It’s built well and has weather-resistant features like waterproof caps over all the cable connections. The sound is amazing outdoors. We had to turn it down and didn’t even need the bass boost feature at a recent cookout. The suitcase-style carrying handle and wheels make it easy to move and position. That said, this is a hefty machine! It has a lead-acid battery, which makes it heavy - nearly 25 pounds - but also allows it to provide many hours of use on a single charge. Connections are easy: cables, bluetooth, and NFC. It even has a USB connection so you can charge the device you’re streaming from. The controls are simple and straightforward. All in all, a nice device for family parties or events like weddings.

Fantastic PA speaker - easy to use and lightweight

I was not actually trying to purchase this item, until a friend of mine showed up with one at an outside party during this covid-19 / coronavirus time. It was the highlight of our very small, under 10 family gathering. We set up a tent and had a lazy afternoon with some old school jams! It definitely brightened everyone's moved

A great outdoor music system. Great for parties...

Sound quality was excellent however the power button broke after 6 months! Useless without power so throwing it away after a year was very hard to do expecially after paying $185 for it.

I am a huge speaker enthusiast…my home, truck, jet ski all pack good sound systems. I love a good portable speaker that has a long life and is powerful enough to hear in crowds with reasonable quality. I’m no stranger to the Ion brand as I own the Road Rider for a few years now which has done me very well. The Road Rider is a very similar speaker in size (one sub, one tweeter) with a little more wattage of 120. I will be comparing this Sport XL to that one. My first impressions of this speaker is that its very modern and organized well. The attractive look is a nice bonus, plus I like the physical buttons and everything is labeled making it quick and easy to understand. You can connect via Bluetooth and aux cable (included), a radio option, and includes a microphone. Some additional features and Pro’s are: - USB Charging for a phone - Water resistant (IPX5 - Big one for me) - Physical Volume Knobs - Wheels with a pull-up handle for easy mobility. Handles on the side as well - NFC Option for connecting Bluetooth along with the Standard Bluetooth connection - Radio presets, 4 stations - Link option for 2 Sport XL speakers to play together - Music controls on the speaker (Back, Forward, Pause/Play) - Bass Boost option (No its not 1996, but I’m sure it’s a battery conservation option) - Nice LED of your enabled options - Microphone works well Ion states the battery life will last up to 75 hours! I have yet to test this out, but that rating is 3x better than the Road Rider which is 24 hours. I’m sure the volume has to be around 25-40% and no Bass Boost. Charge time for a dead battery is about 12 hours, not bad if you even get half of the stated amount of play time on it. Some of the Cons: - Power Cable. The road rider had a standard computer-style power cable that you can find anywhere. This one is one of the special ones not as easy to find. Just don’t lose it. - No compartment or a way to attach the included microphone or aux cable. Would be nice not to have to carry them separately and have access to them at all time. - Sound quality. It is isn’t great but it isn’t terrible. This is pretty standard with most water-resistant speakers. Its basically a good party or PA speaker, hence the “tailgate” in the title, just don’t get high expectations. This thing gets loud but can also get distorted when too loud. Overall it’s a great speaker. The road rider wasn’t IPX5 rated, so not water or dust resistant, but I took that thing mudding and got it caked with mud, several beach and boat trips, and it still sounded good, so I look forward to some adventures with this one. The price is very comparable to the Road Rider and packs more features. It gets loud and I didn’t have any Bluetooth connection problems. There is also a voice that confirms actions like connecting Bluetooth and power on.
