The sensitivity of the button is much better than previous hottie products. The weight of the 8 plus is also a challenge for this unit. So, you are limited to how you can use this item. Other than that, it works as advertised.

Won't charge through a phone cover

Unfortunately, it won't charge your phone if you have a phone cover on it. Given that phones cost $1,000+ these days, everyone buys a protective cover for their phone. I wish this had worked out.
